So good for the aging brain… Is there no place in this program for it?
It can be added in small amounts in place of other oils (1 teaspoon is one exchange). As much as the MCTs can be beneficial, the saturation of the fat is still a problem in large amounts.
Most of the research noting brain benefits point to the juice rather than the oil – the juice (or “coconut water”) can be substituted for a vegetable or fruit.
The benefits of the oil are mostly for serious liver and digestive problems, or in populations that are genetically accustomed to coconut.
