    I made a special trip out of town to try to fine some of the suggested ingredients. I found SWG Bread in the freezer department and wish I hadn’t. What little taste there is is awful and it is very dry, not to mention expensive. I found some grass-fed hamburger but haven’t tried it yet. Couldn’t find Omega-3 eggs though. Most of the menus are way too large for a single person so I’m using their example and making things the best I can. I’m just a simple country girl so most of the menus are like something from outer space to me and way too expensive for me to try. I’m using my meal planner and completing my food journal and eating frozen fruit and sweet potatoes which I never ate before. No weight loss yet but still hopeful.

    I too live alone. Fortunately I live in a city with many options for buying healthy food. But if you buy fresh eggs, the best bread with whole wheat, nuts, and seeds you can freeze a loaf and have a second one as well. I keep it in my freezer and toast it as I need it.

    Fresh fruits and veggies or frozen will work with the program if it is tough to buy them from a farmer.

    Keep following the program and know that if you are not losing on a daily basis……you are NOT gaining. Good luck, Janet.

    I was excited yesterday to find that my grocery store had the SWG bread and English muffins, SWG pumpkin seeds, Omega3 eggs, the specified meats, etc. They are more expensive, but there, so I bought them. However, a word of caution. Perhaps I am unique because I have fibromyalgia, but I normally don’t eat any bread and have not eaten breads,or cereals for years. For lunch yesterday I ate one warmed slice of SWG bread with a little natural peanut butter, one English muffin with a little butter and unsweetened applesauce, about 1/2 cup of SWG pumpkin seeds, a samll tangerine, and a couple of red grapes. I had had oatmeal and HEB Mootopia milk for breakfast. As I was finishing my lunch my stomach began to cramp and become nauseous. I felt like throwing up. I crawled into bed with my cat curled up with me. I evenually fell asleep and awoke 2 hours later, not as woozy, but didn’t feel “normal” until around 8 or 9 PM. I could hardly drink even water. I must have eaten too much of these new foods for lunch! They tasted good to me and I was obviously very curious about tasting them.
    Question: Am I unique? Are there other people with fibromyalgia who have experienced this reaction to the SWG foods? I had been on an Atkins-leaning diet of low carbs and had remission of fibromyalgia symptoms on this diet. But had become bored with it.
    This morning I feel normal again. I had an Omega-3 egg and one slice of SWG toast with little bit of peanut butter and just a few SWG pumpkin seeds on top. I feel fine – no adverse reaction this morning.

    Hi, lschuchmann. It sounds like you had a normal reaction to adjustment from a very low-fiber to a very high-fiber diet perhaps too quickly. I would suggest backing off a little on the complex carbs and gradually reintroduce them to your diet. In the meantime, go for a good-quality yogurt or similar fermented product with active probiotic cultures 1-2 times per day (6-8 oz or 180-240 ml/gm each time). As you build up your fiber intake, be sure to drink plenty of fluids, 6-8 fluid ounces or 180-240 ml for each 5 grams.

    what is swg bread, I like toast in the morning, are there any breads in the store that are ok, but easier to find. and is it ok to use I CAN’ BELIEVE ITS BUTTER LIGHT WITH OLIVE OIL

    SWG – sprouted whole grain. I just learned this tonight by reading through several posts.
    I’m new to the site n to having to reach outside of myself to lose weight. Always one to be in shape n active. After issues with life; lose of my brother, dating a plus sized man that eats fast n large quantities, and switching to a sit down job I’m finding it difficult to get in gear. Please help. No family our friends nearby so I’m taking walks w my ipod.

    I live in Cape Town, South Africa. I was very excited when I 1st came across this site. I immediately joined, but to my suprise, everything I read, made very little sense. I have no idea where to even get all the ingredients to make a simple meal. Spent almost 3 weeks on google and finaly found a shop almost 100 km away that can help me with a few ingredients. I dont want to give up!!! I really want to do this. Organic is another word for “To be Rich” – that I am not. Is Organic the only way to go? Is there a more easier way to start this and not have to kill yourself in the money department? I like fresh vegetables and made a nice pot of cabbage soup, no extra salts ect. just a combination of greens. Its great, but I cant seem to incorporate that into my daily plan. Can some-one pls help me to get started, again… I DONT WANNA GIVE UP>

    Hey Ossie. Thx for the reply. I went onto the website and I will be able to get to R500. I will be very selective though, but at least I can start somewhere. Is there any suggestions from your side as to what I can start with thats easy and as I learn the program I can add from there. I looked at the recipies and they all look so yummy, so just want to know what is the best to begin with. Thanx so much for all your help.

    Hi, Naomi. I don’t know what your preferences are in general, but if you like bread, I would suggest getting used to a good whole grain bread – sometimes it takes trial-and-error to find one you like. Then whole grains for cooking – start with swapping out the refined ones for whole/brown, and then each week introduce a new grain for cooking. Along the way, maybe try less meat and more beans. I don’t know if you are an omnivore or vegan, but if the former, try to get grass-fed meat (http://www.greenlandsmeats.co.za/) at least once in a while – if you cut down on meat in general, the price will balance out. Same for dairy. Getting used to better sweeteners can be an early or eventual step – I suggest starting early, because if you are a sugar lover, this will take some getting used to.
    Regarding the recipes: do you like to cook and experiment? Do you have time? Most people seem to like the recipes with “homemade” or “classic” (or even “simple”) in the title. If you like something more, I would suggest just going through the lists in the Menu Planners, and trying a couple each week until you find something you like.

    Hey Ossie. I am a normal meat eater. Sometimes I will go without meat for long periods, because I want to. I am definately not a Bread lover. If any I will eat 2 slices per week, I would prefer crackers that bread. I think SA is a bit behind still with all the musts on labels. I dont see what % of grain is in Whole Grain and dont wanna buy it. I will then buy Rye Bread, but apparently that is also made of normal flour. I have to learn alot about shopping and just want this to be normal for me. I read the article about Organic and its very interesting, but now I dont like peaches anymore – I would rather go without it than hunt it down all over Cape Town. I have my own business and 4 Kids (husband included :)) – so its not easy making time to fit all these things in. OOOOO – I must sound like a “nagg” and I am sorry, but I want this more than anything – I want to be healthy. I introduced Omega 3 (Krill Oil), Spirulina and Pro-Biotics into our lives and I feel good. Now its time to move on to this project. Its just frustrating that everything is not available. I looked at the recipes and things like “Coconut Syrup” – I’ve never heard of. Thanx for your kindness and willingness to help me.

    Hi, Naomi. It is unfortunately that some areas are slower to take up healthy products, but thank goodness for the internet.     The most popular is Food for Life http://www.foodforlife.com. Others are good also, but be sure to read the label for undesirable additives such as hydrogenated fats and added refined grains.
