MemberI have done my basic weekly meal plan. But I found the Quinoa Pudding receipi and would like to have it for breakfast. The problem is I dont know what the rules are for creating my own meal plan. I am unable to find it in my choices for breakfast. Any ideas?

MemberHi, MarBon. Quinoa Pudding is indeed an option for breakfast in the Menu Planner application – look under Carbs, then Breakfast Meal.
As for creating your own plan, we are putting together something for Club members to be able to do that. The rules will basically be following a pattern that is set according to your gender, height, weight, and weight goal (loss or maintenance), then adding in foods from food groups, in specific portioni sizes.May 22, 2013 at 3:33 am #11877Phylyoder
MemberI for one will be glad to see some kind of rules to plan my own menu. I find it very difficult to follow the planned menu.

That makes me very very happy. I have always had weight problems, it runs in my family. But i am doing it!!!!!!! THANKS

MemberYes, I am having the same experience. When one is busy working, it is difficult to use the suggested recipes, particularly being in Australia not finding all the ingredients that are suggested and also being in a different season. As the others I would appreciate, Ossie, if we could get some rules for creating our own meal plan. It would be sooo much easier and possible to use it. THANKS!

MemberHi
I too am looking to personalize and have the same issues – how many carbs, proteins, pulses, veg, fruit, cheese, dairy in a day or week do I need? Such a guide – and what counts as a serving for each would be magic! For example how does bread compare to potatoes or rice for a portion of carb? I am guessing at the moment – but still seems to be working! All help appreciated! Valerie 88May 24, 2013 at 4:47 pm #11950dolly2006
MemberI am happy to see that you are working on creating a system for us to be able to make our own individualized meal plans. I was under the impression from the video that I watched that we would be eating the same foods we eat now but we would have help from a dietician to proportion our meals to be able to loose the weight. I was so excited with the video I gave my credit card to hear more. It was not mentioned in the video that there would be extra fees to speak to them. I was really disappointed. I wasn’t impressed with the choices given to create our menus. I’m certain that they are better food choices, however they are very expensive and an acquired taste to boot. I’m looking for a long term life style change and I want to be able to like what I’m eating and loose weight too!

MemberI was under the impression I would get a shopping list based on menu that was created. Some of the things are wacky, graham crackers and chicken???

MemberI am also in Australia the cold part! different season but can get berries frozen. Found using the circular arrows great to change foods. Also have had to work out measurement in grams. Perhaps for other countries who use metric system this could be listed beside ounces.Starting tomorrow, Sunday here in Australia, after getting menus right.

MemberHello Phylyoder, Klara, Valerie88, and Dolly2006. In the near future, the Trim Down Club will indeed be providing tools and a guide for building your own menus based on meal plan patterns that fit individual needs, along with lists of food exchanges with portion sizes that translate to one another within indivdual food groups.
Dolly 2006, to answer your specific question: the Menu Planner food lists incorporate many foods from which you can choose those that are already in your cupboards and refrigerator. The healthiest options are, of course, encouraged (the lighter blue options will get you a higher diet quality score), but the choice is yours. Some healthy options are expensive, but others, such as beans and lentils, are not, certainly when compared to meat. If you would like specific help with your menu, please post here, and I would be happy to help – others may benefic by reading it.May 25, 2013 at 2:38 pm #11965Ossie-Sharon
MemberHi, KimGriffiths. The shopping list feature is available next to the weekly menu. If you have trouble finding it, use the “Contact Us” link below, and tech support will get back to you.
Regarding the food combination you received, if you chose graham crackers for a meal where chicken was also chosen, did you have it in mind as dessert? Was it the only carb provided for the meal? Or did one of the two items appear without you choosing them?May 25, 2013 at 2:50 pm #11967Ossie-Sharon
MemberHi, butler. You can build your menus with whatever foods you want, but we do encourage you to try healthier versions, if you can. Reguar cereals, bacon, and sausages contain ingredients that can work against your health. There is no need to throw food away, but next time you go shopping, perhaps you can look into options such as higher fiber cereals without added sugar, salt, and colors, and bacon and sausage products labeled “natural” and/or reduced fat and/or sodium.
