MemberHi I’m new to the group and live in the UK. I have had a few stabs at the menu planer now but am struggling a bit because the recommendations are coming up with a lot of products I am not familiar with and have no idea where to purchase. Can anyone help out with UK equivalent food swaps?

MemberIn today’s menu for instance I have a choice of
1 cup of Amaranth (Cooked)
1 cup of Spelt (cooked)
1 cup of Barley (Cooked)
1 cup of Bulgur/Bourghoul (Cooked)
1 cup of Oat GroatsI don’t know what any of these are
I am also struggling with bread as when I look at the ingredients it’s not clear if the breads are swg or if not what % whole they are

MemberHi, Shepv50. These items are not called anything different in the UK, but they are not well-known to many people in general who do not frequent health food stores. They are super high-quality grains that are much less processed than the standard fair found in most shops, and so are best for optimising metabolism and supporting healthy weight loss.
The following is a link to an online shop that carries the items you listed.

You can do a search on each one and find products and tips on preparation. For the barley, choose whole grain and not “pearl,” which is relatively refined.
Some of the items are also available in regular shops, such as Tesco.June 15, 2013 at 5:43 pm #12525skyegabs
MemberHi,
you also can find a lot of the stuff in Hollands and Barrett, but also in Sainsburys. here with us it is located next to the normal grains and rice and pasta. - AuthorPosts
