Hi, I am an Indian. I am really got encouraged by the presentation and decided to join this. But when I saw the menu planner I came to know that almost 70% of the dishes are not made in India. We have different dishes. Please help.

Hi, Kanupriya. When you say “dishes,” are you referring to the recipes? Or to the foods? The Menu Planner lists are based on fresh, unprocessed foods, including what we consider traditonal Indian foods – please do feel free to correct me, and we can upgrade the selections. In the meantime, we list beans/legumes, rice, freekah and other whole grains, sprouted grains, and ghee and poultry if you are not a vegetarian, as well as many vegetables; spices are “free” and so do not appear in the lists. Some items have an Indian counterpart, such as pita bread and tortillas and vs. chapati and nan – you can just switch these.
Other than that, note that the Menu Planner also lends the advantage of providing a framework for portion sizes, food combinations, and distribution and timing of meals.
This program is based in part on Indian dietary principles and research on Indian metabolism. It can be very relevant for you, and I am happy to work with your here.

Thanks for the reply. By dishes I mean vegetables and fruits and also recipes linked with them. I don’t eat so much of cheese. Also, I eat many different kinds of recipes which I don’t feel is there in the list. Should I send the recipes of the foods that I eat weekly, so that you can get an idea? Like we often eat a recipe which is made from flattened rice. The recipe is shown in the link below:

Hi, Kanupriya. It would be great if you could list the foods you normally eat. Your recipes (assuming they are healthy like the poha you sent), could make a great addition to the recipe collection. You can either add them here http://www.trimdownclub.com/submit-a-recipe/, or we can post some per the list of names.
Note that some of the basic foods can be swapped out – for example, just choose rice in the planner when you mean the actual plain poha (the primary nutritional breakdown is similar). Seasonings are “free,” so you don’t need to worry about those.
Regarding fruits and vegetables – which of these are you missing? It would be great if you could list these, too.
Regarding cheese – there are many other foods that fit that nutritional slot, so no worries. Again, you are welcome to list the foods you do use, especially if some basic ones are missing from the Menu Planner lists.

I dont know where to get SWG . We generally dont cook breads at our home. We just cook tortillas or chapatis made from wheat flour. In bread list I dont eat or have anything available near to me except white bread or chapatis which something like tortillas.

I breakfast meal I dont know anything except puffed rice and oatmeal.

I have no options for desserts as well in the menu planner.

Almond milk, spelt milk, rice milk not available. Even no organic milk. Only regular cow milk. No goat cheese or milk. And I have never tasted it. Nuts I can take 4-5 varities.

No Avacado, raw butter, nut butter, guacamole, wild rice or black rice, brocolli is very rare and costly.

Among Sauces I know Tomato sauce only.

Among fruits I get onl apple, seasonal mango, seasonal strawberry, guava, papaya, grapes, watermelon, honeydew melon, orange, pomegranate.

I will list the names of some of the recipes later. Thanks for support.
