MemberI’m new to TDC and having a hard time with the Meal Planner online. Is the only way into the daily menus clicking through the Apps tab, then Menu Planner, then click through “dietary needs” page, then click through “food selections” pages unlit you reach actual weekly meals page? Is there a direct route somewhere else to the daily menus page? When I finally get to daily meal planner I’m not seeing how I can choose food alternatives from the recipes in “Delights from Members” or any other new recipes from the “Recipes” section. Please help. I so agree with the request for a phone app for this program. Thank you.

MemberHi, Cynthia. To see the weekly menus that you already created, just click on “Menu History” near the top of the page when you first enter the Menu Planner application.
To substitute recipes, I suggest to just check recipes in the Menu Planner that are similar to what you want, and when they come up on your menu, swap them out for the recipe you will eat.
One of our future upgrades will be a feature that enables more flexible use of recipes.August 18, 2013 at 3:27 pm #14151Tweety425
Memberhello cynthiaf, hows it going now? did you get a menu you like yet? I worked on it and made about 12 menus before I finally found one that I love. I concentrated on items I like and tried to stay with tourqoise colors, and kept in mind ease of preparation. At first I thought I would love to cook all the recipes, but it turns out I like to eat quick meals & save my free time for exercise, and hobbies. Hope your well with this! hugs, tweety425

Memberwhy do ingredients that I didn’t choose keep showing up in my menus. Also, why would at breakfast oatmeal and granola with milk both show up. Who is ever going to eat both of those at one time. The menu planner has me really confused. Are you just supposed to a few items from each meal/snack? I can’t imagine eating all the items that are suggested. Very, very new to this program and hope it’s not another scam!

MemberHi, gtft57. The intention is indeed for you to eat all the items on the menu. I have forwarded your query about the foods to tech support. In the meantime, you can swap out whatever you wish using the circular arrow icon next to each item.
Because this program is a lifestyle change rather than a restrictive diet, it will seem like a lot of food. However, because the foods are mostly unprocessed, they are less dense, which allows you more volume (to avoid hunger), and because the food is more nutritious, it will help get your metabolism up.
There is definitely an adjustment period at the beginning for some people, as you will see in the posts – you can read about results and advice in these threads: http://www.trimdownclub.com/forums/topic/tips-tricks-recipes-encouragement/ and http://www.trimdownclub.com/forums/topic/success-stories-anyone-care-to-share/.
If you hit snags, just repost here, and we will work through them.August 27, 2013 at 1:18 am #14419gtft57
Membersome of the directions to the recipes don’t make sense. I just made the Cheesy Spinach – Brown Rice Bake and I hoping it comes out ok. It calls for 7 of the noodles but only calls for one layers. Then it says final hard cheese and I read it several times and didn’t even see where to put down the first. Maybe I have reading comprehension problems, but this recipe was a bit confusing.

MemberHi, gtft57. Yes, all the lasagna noodles go into a single pasta layer. The “final layer of hard cheese” just means that the final layer of the entire recipe is cheese.

MemberWell I ended up using all 7 noodles layered like lasagna and it was so good!

MemberHi my name is Carol and I have recently joined so still learning, I am finding it difficult to understand the mixtures of foods given for the different meals, eg, 2 slices of Spelt Bread, 2 ozs cold cut meats, 1 oz cheese with half cup lentils and one serving of veg,I can manage the first three easily but how do you fit in lentils and vegs in the same meal.? Is anyone else having the same problems or can you recommend anything I can do. I have tried change my options but it doesn’t seem to work. Any help would great.

MemberHi, Carol50, and welcome! You can use legumes just like another vegetable in your salad, and throw them in – it’s a very popular thing, especially with sprouted legumes. If that doesn’t sound good to you, then swap them out using the circular arrow icon next to them.
Don’t stress too much about adjusting to the program – the start is a bit challenging, but it really does get easier. Just find what works for you, and don’t worry about being too perfect (just do better than what you did before, and the little changes add up over time).December 13, 2013 at 3:12 pm #16766JAM61
MemberThese comments have been very helpful for me. As I also am having a hard time with the menu. The lady who had to make 12 before she found one she liked was good. I might have to do that. Since I’ve joined I haven’t started to use the menu. As there seems to be way to much food that I am to eat every day. And I don’t want to gain. Are you sure if I follow what they give me to eat, & I stick with it, that I will lose weight.????? I need to try and see, but I for sure don’t want to gain what I’ve already lost. So back to the menu planner for me. 🙂

MemberHi, I still haven’t used the menu as directed as you say it’s too much food, I seemed to be either looking for the ingredients and then cooking it’s far too much for me. I also find the mix of food per meal very strange. What I have been doing is reducing my portion sizes by quite a lot and making sure that per meal has a mix of protein, carbs and veg as much as possible this seems to be helping me, I don’t think it’s the diet that’s working for me as I haven’t kept to it at all. It’s also very difficult to find the foods as they appear to only available in the USA.

MemberHi, Carol50. It is great that you are in touch with your hunger signals. The major thrusts of the program include eating whole, unprocessed foods, which result in more volume – so you can cut back your portions and still be full. Then there is the timing of the meals, as well as the combinations, which you’ve done instinctively. Bravo 🙂 The foods are actually taken from around the world, so they are available globally. Where are you located? I would be happy to help you find sources.

MemberI agree with the confusion. The meal combinations seem weird sort of like two meals in one. Also one of mine was a sandwich for a snack and I know if I ate that I would put on weight. I see some of you aren’t even using the menus which is the way I think I will have to go. It is not very straightforward and although I am only on day 1 I am disappointed that I joined. Sorry to sound negative but I feel that I will spend too much time making all these bits and pieces of meals. I understand the theory of six small meals but there are a lot of days that is not feasible with lifestyle. I guess I will have to delve deeper to see how I can fit this in to my lifestyle or just accept I have blown my money. I also believe it is a very americanised menu (no offence to the American ladies!)
