Why in some diabetic or sugar free recipes do they use brown sugar or molasses or honey and call it sugar free? Can you use molasses in recipes instead of sugar and still lose?

Hi, Deborah. Sorry, no. Those recipes are a bit misleading. The substitutes for sugar they use have a lower glycemic index than regular sugar, but they are still concentrated carbohydrates, and honey also affects the liver in ways that may be counterproductive to weight loss efforts. Thus far, the best options appear to be coconut sugar and nectar, followed by organic whole evaporated cane juice.
