DeborahjjhayesMembera week from weds I’m having Knee replacement surgery. Off my leg for 8 weeks with a three month recovery as I also have a fractured hip. difficult rehab. Peopple from our church have already said they are bringing food. My husband doesn’t cook and you wouldn’t want him to…trust me. Any suggestions as to how to get through this without gaining the 23 poundsI’ve lost. I will stay in contact with my group as they are my biggest encouragement but I just don’tsee how I can handle this food crisis!! Except just be careful and don’t use it as an excuse to go nuts.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Deborah. Focus on proteins, from both dairy sources, to be sure you also get some good calcium, as well as meats, to be sure you get lots of iron. Go easier on the carbohydrates, and there, focus on fruits and vegetables, for the antioxidants and to keep your blood sugar balanced (and it may help with the constipation). Remember your portion sizes! That will help you deal with any food you are given. And of course, lots of participation in physical therapy.
