newshapemoiMemberHi to everyone who lives in the UK and is trying to follow this eating programme.
I don’t say diet as it’s too negative and I don’t say lose as your body will do anything NOT to lodsa, so it’s English re-shaping that’s going on here.
Let’s share what we can actually eat that we can buy in Waitrose, Asda , Aldi ,liddl and so on and what we have to get from health shops- if any?
So far I haven’t started because the food names are all so BAFFLING!
Can I still have porridge? can I use Canderel? Or shall I use that green one, Stevia?
Is granary bread OK ? Is it better than wholemeal?January 13, 2014 at 9:24 pm #17360
blessingcatcherMemberHi, Newshape! we have several people from UK in the “Successful Beginnings and Support too”. AnnaH, FrancesWartnaby, nobuthle … are three I can think of right off. Try “friending” them, … and then you can write them private messages, if you don’t get the response you want here in the public community forum. 😉 jan

newshapemoiMemberHi no not yet still have not started yet, am doing Paul Mc Kenna get trim and gastric band instead as I haven’t a clue how to do this trimdown caper.
What’s a brick of cheese?
and if it says oatmeal do they mean rolled oats as in porridge oats?
and would our 5 seed bread from warburtons be ok to use as bread?
Or granary bread?
what do you suggest for breakfast?
I am used to having porridge made with water instead of milk and then add canned pineapple or peaches in juice? But drained of course. Or 2 Weetabix with skimmed milk and a large dollop of low sugar jam?
or two thin slices granary with bertolli lightest and vegemite!
Can I still have any of those?
Welcome by the way and thanks for posting this message!
Can you HELP please?January 20, 2014 at 8:47 pm #17541
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, NewShapeMoi. A brick of cheese is like a block of cheese – an example http://www.amazon.co.uk/Brick-cheese-Hochgruberhof-approx-700/dp/B003UPELWU.
Rolled or steel cut porridge oats are indeed what we had in mind, but of course, we would rather you didn’t use “instant” or “quick” (processed) oats.
Wharburton’s 5-seed bread is excellent, but notice that each slice weighs about 1-1/2 times a regular bread slice, so it counts as 1-1/2 carb exchange. Granary bread is also excellent, but since there are different types, do be sure to read the label to make sure there are no unwanted surprises.
Regarding what we would suggest for breakfast, that depends for the most part on what you usually eat and like? Goood bread with Vegemite or low-sugar (such as fruit-only) jam and/or olive oil, or porridge/Weetabix, along with fruit and a source of protein (milk, yogurt, egg, nuts) is excellent.July 16, 2014 at 11:05 am #21700
missusmermaidMemberis there any advice on alcohol? I like a tipple and will be cutting back on the ‘odd glass of wine’ during the week but wondered what ‘rules’ we should apply at weekends and also if there are ‘good’ and ‘bad’ drinks e.g. wheat-based (beer) might be worse? is there a snack we could have with alcohol that lowers the blood sugar impacts and makes it easier for the liver/kidneys? All thoughts welcome but please dont say just cut it out as its not an option. (I have a toddler and full-time job so its my treat!)

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, MissusMermaid. Yes – the main Program Guide (in “My Downloads” above) discusses the issue. In the Menu Planner lists, alcoholic beverages are listed under “Fats” – subcategory “Beverages”. It will come with foods that can limit the impact on your system.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Angel. You can post here, or you can join one of the groups (see the link to “Groups” above). The most popular is “Successful Beginnings,” but there is also a UK group.
