MrsMarcrum1513MemberI am having a very hard time finding brown rice pasta. I sent my husband to the store for some and he came home with healthy harvest pasta. It’s says 100 percent whole grain on the box, but the ingredients say durum wheat flour. Is that good or bad? I want to make a spaghetti with turkey meat balls for dinner, and I am having the hardest time trying to find the right pasta and sauce…please help. Does anyone know any recipes for home made sauce or know a brand that is not bad?

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, MrsMarcrum. If you are not sensitive to gluten, that product is fine. You want 100% whole grain.
Regarding a good brand, look for “organic” if you can, and if you don’t have anything like that, read the label and try to stick with simple, natural ingredients – stay away from high-fructcose corn syrup, hydrogenated fats, monosodium glutamate. The following is a good example from Newman’s Own: “Tomato Puree (Water, Tomato Paste, Citric Acid), Diced Tomatoes, Cabernet Wine, Salt, Sugar, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Soybean Oil, Onions*, Basil, Garlic*, Spices”March 19, 2014 at 3:42 pm #18680
