MemberI started Shaun T’S insanity program this week along with using my clean eating from here. The odd thing is I gained 4 pounds and this is my 5th day doing the workouts. I follow my daily menu as well and measure everything out. I wonder if it’s just muscle mass, maybe water retention for my sore muscles? Any other work out ,I lose, but Insanity is another level. We do power jumps, foot ball drills, lots off push ups, and lots of cardio. So I’m curious to why I gained weight. The first five days into It. Any ideas?

MemberHi, MrsMarcrum1513. If you have any doubts, look in the mirror, check how your clothes are fitting. Muscle is indeed quite heavy, and early stages do include some good water retention.

MemberMy weight fluctuates 2 lbs between the morning and afternoon. They recommend on this program to only weigh yourself once a week and do it at the same time every week. I drink water all day at work (64 oz) so by the time I go to the gym, I’m pretty water-logged.
I think a good rule is how your clothes fit and how you feel. Insanity workout is pretty strenuous so I don’t think you are gaining weight by doing that program. Give it time though – the weight will come off.

MemberIf you are able to do the Insanity workout you must already be very fit and trim, I do P90X and find that punishing enough, how much weight do you want to loose?
The Insanity routines are as the title suggests very extreme cardio workouts, If you are able to cope with these then you can’t be carrying too much excess weight.
Good luck with it
Phil.
