Ingredients

  1. 6 cups / 1⅓ L whole grain flour, organic
  2. 2 tsp. / 10 ml active yeast
  3. 2 cups / 480 ml plain full-fat yogurt, preferably organic pastured,  warm
  4. ⅔ cup / 160 ml honey or coconut nectar
  5. 2 organic omega-3 or pastured eggs, large
  6. 1 tsp. / 5 ml salt
  7. 2 Tbsp. / 30 ml organic/pastured butter melted
  8. 1 cup / 240 ml pecans, ground /mealed
  9. ½ cup / 120 ml water, warm
  10. 1½ cups / 340 ml cherries, pitted; if jarred, and then drain before use

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F / 175°C.
  2. Mix all ingredients but pecans, ½ cup / 160 ml honey or nectar, and cherries, and allow dough to rise.
  3. Divide dough into thirds, and roll out each section into a long rectangle.
  4. Brush one side of each rectangle with honey or nectar, and sprinkle with ⅓ cup / 80 ml pecan meal.
  5. Cut strips around edges to braid.
  6. Top with cherries. Bake for 20 min.
