Ingredients
- 6 cups / 1⅓ L whole grain flour, organic
- 2 tsp. / 10 ml active yeast
- 2 cups / 480 ml plain full-fat yogurt, preferably organic pastured, warm
- ⅔ cup / 160 ml honey or coconut nectar
- 2 organic omega-3 or pastured eggs, large
- 1 tsp. / 5 ml salt
- 2 Tbsp. / 30 ml organic/pastured butter melted
- 1 cup / 240 ml pecans, ground /mealed
- ½ cup / 120 ml water, warm
- 1½ cups / 340 ml cherries, pitted; if jarred, and then drain before use
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F / 175°C.
- Mix all ingredients but pecans, ½ cup / 160 ml honey or nectar, and cherries, and allow dough to rise.
- Divide dough into thirds, and roll out each section into a long rectangle.
- Brush one side of each rectangle with honey or nectar, and sprinkle with ⅓ cup / 80 ml pecan meal.
- Cut strips around edges to braid.
- Top with cherries. Bake for 20 min.
