Lori1829MemberI’ve signed up a week ago and I am overwhelmed. Seems like most of the items on the grocery list need to be purchased at a specialty food store, such as Whole Foods, not at the common, local grocery store. The closest specialty food store is an hour away from me so that is part of the reason I haven’t started the program.
Am I missing something or misunderstanding the menu items? My wedding is in 92 days and I really need to drop some pounds. Any advise will be appreciated.April 5, 2014 at 9:03 pm #19076
ChipsgirlMemberYikes! I just joined a couple of hours ago & I, like you live nowhere near specialty stores…

pslaghtMemberI also have recently signed up, and live in a very rural area where Walmart is our basic grocery store. I read somewhere in the program guide to not jump in head first, but to do a little at a time. I shopped today and spent over an hour just reading labels. For now I bought basic good staples like raw nuts, plain low fat yogurt, fresh fruit and vegies (organic of course)… Kashi cereal plain oats, and brown rice pasta, omega 3 eggs and organic milk. ALL FOUND AT WALMART !!! I know it’s not all I need to start the menu plan, but I can ease into it with these smart choices for now.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Lori1829 and Chipsgirl, and welcome! Pslaght is right (thank you) – large warehouse-type stores can have surprisingly good collections. In addition to WalMart, Target and CostCo are quite good. If you like ordering products, Amazon.com is excellent.

Lori1829MemberGreat! Thanks everyone for the feedback. I appreciate the support. I will go out this week & look for the basics at those locations.

RosieOMemberI’m a newbie too but I live in England so even the names of somethings aren’t recognisable to me!For instance – what was the name of that strange sounding flour and in what kind of shops is it available, please?

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, RoseO. Whole Foods Market also has branches in the UK. In addition, see the following guide for finding products: http://www.trimdownclub.com/where-to-buy-uk. Note that many of the foods are lesser known because they are less mass-produced, which is an advantage in terms of being more nutritious and supportive of healthy weight management.
