MemberConsidering the menu plan that is created for you, where would post workout protein shake fit in (which nearly is a meal in itself)?

MemberHi, Ian1. It would be the next meal in the day – just be sure to put any “leftover” exchanges from that meal into another meal. If the workout is later in the day, it would be best to put any extras in earlier meals.

MemberOssie-Sharon, thank you for the response. Would that mean, that one of the meals that day would be bumped, and the shake would take the place of one of them or that means, that I will have an extra meal that day (all planned meals plus the shake).

MemberHi, ian1. Generally, that would depend on the intensity and total time of your workout and what is in the shake, as well as the weight status. I see from your profile that you are on the low side of normal (if the stats are accurate – 6 ft / 165 lbs), so an extra snack may not matter. If you would like to share the above details and your health/weight goals, I would be happy to run some calculations for you.

MemberHi Ossie-Sharon, my shakes are pretty much a meal, it contains protein, carbs and fat and I do not know about fiber (until I read your articles about food combination 101 late last night). The fat comes from flax seed oil 15 grams(tablespoon) and half a cup of canned coconut milk (full fat), protein from whey powder 38 grams serving, carbs from fruits such as half of an apple or half cup of berries, and almond milk and coconut water.
The workout is up to 10 minutes daily, dumbbells and body weight for weight resistance and couple of minutes intense cardio gets my heart rate to above 130.
Over the past 30 years I have developed repugnant fat pockets where I used to have muscles. I am desperately trying to get rid of it, so I can look at myself in the mirror again.I like your approach to balanced meals, although it is too early to tell if I can benefit from it. That is why I am trying to understand it conceptually, so I can improve my life style and not only when I am in front of the computer. But your expert advise with the shake is important to me as well as any other advice to reach my goal.

MemberHi, Ian. That looks fine. If you find what you are eating/drinking is too much, you can always cut out a snack to make room for the shake.
