KatConnollyMemberHi – I am post-menopause and have quite lost my appetite. No matter how little I eat, I cannot loses weight. I am at 130 lbs and 5′ 3″.
I’m looking at the menu and seeing how much there is to eat!!! I get stuffed so quickly and don’t know if I can eat an egg, 1 1/2 c of oatmeal, and 1 c of cantaloupe only to follow with 6 oz of yogurt just 2 hours later. And that is just in the morn!
Will I be gaining a lot of weight with all this food? And how do I eat so much if I get full quickly? Do I cut down the serving size to half?

Catrina14MemberI’m in the same boat. I normally eat one egg and half a grapefruit for breakfast.
My b’fast tomorrow is 1 eng muffin, 1 oz cheese, 1/2 c oatmeal, 1/2 oz flax seed and 1/2 c raspberries. Does that sound like too much to you?June 10, 2014 at 1:58 am #20718
KatConnollyMemberThat sounds much more reasonable. 🙂

janlesMemberHi Kat & Catrina, I am a new member and also feel that I am eating far too much, but I have also realised how poor my diet has been in certain areas, so am happy to keep going if only for my health… But I agree Kat, I am sure I am going to gain weight rather than loose !! any comments from the experts ?

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, janles, and welcome (and welcome to the rest of you, too!). A couple of things. One, if you are used to being on restrictive diets for weight loss, this will seem like a lot of food, but I assure you, it is normal. Second, because the foods are whole, they take up much more volume, but in fact, you are eating much, much less that you did when you originally gained the weight. It may take your body a bit to get its metabolism back up, but it will hapen. If you want to give it a jump-start, you can try adjusting your physical activity level. If you are really struggling, please do repost here, and I would be happy work with you.

KatConnollyMemberThanks for the responses.
I work 8-10 hours a day in the garden building, moving soil, digging, etc. We have a big project back there! And as little as I was eating, I still didn’t lose weight. So I’m thinking you are right, Ossie-Sharon. My metabolism is off because the food I’m eating is wrong.
My husband and I have decided to give this diet 21 days to see if it jump starts our metabolisms. He has to lose 65 lbs and I need to lose 15.
We will report our results. This will be a great experiment!

45scochoMemberhi , im also a newbie and am wondering on average, what the timing should be between meals?
June 15, 2014 at 2:17 am #20852
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, 45scocho, and welcome! People seem to do best with about 2-3 hours between meals. However, do what is best for you – just try to make the times similar each day, if you can.

janlesMemberHi Ossi Sharon, and thank you for the reply. I have probably been eating less than I realised, and although I was trying to cut out carbs, eating too much protein and Atkins bars to stop me eating bread !!, I trying to adjust to this new way of eating although have had a few slip ups over the weekend, but I am in the main feeling a lot better, I haven’t yet been on the scales as I am more concerned about improving my energy levels which are a real concern to me. If you have any extra pointers to improve my energy levels I would love to hear them. Janles

45scochoMemberThank u for your response. i have varying shifts sometimes weekly sometimes daily so my eating cycle is abit goofy. i really love this program and will stick with it. for those out there with time issues, buy fresh fruit, carrots and nuts of your choice so u always have something available to keep the fire burning.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, janles. One area that can help both energy levels and weight loss is to be sure you are getting adequate and quality sleep at the right times for your biological clock. If you need any help there, please do repost.

KatConnollyMemberOkay. This defies all logic!
I went from working hard outside for 8-10 hours and eating little to lose that extra pounds that menopause so graciously gifts us with. I would consistently stay at the same weight! With hardly any food. I would get so mad.
I started this diet three days ago and have been eating like crazy. The foods recommended. I am eating every two to three hours. And eating almost as much as recommended. I cannot get 1.5 c of oatmeal down.
I’ve actually lost a pound in three days! My energy is increased. I’ve lost the junk food craving and don’t need sweets anymore. My pants are not so tight.
And I’ve actually not worked in the yard because I hurt my foot.
In essence, I’m eating four times more than I used to, without the normal activity, and have lost weight instead of gaining as I thought with so much food being shoveled in my mouth.
That’s pretty crazy!
