Hello. I stumbled over this website and happy I did so. I am a nurse and 45 years old. I unfortunately right now have to flip flop between day shift and night shift which I am sure effects my cortisol levels and other hormones. I am also taking online classes for my bachelors degree. SO saying this, I have little to no motivation or time left. I’m looking for some easy (real easy) meals, snacks, etc. for me to jump start “my new way of eating”.(not saying diet) FYI- I don’t really eat red meat.
    Thank you all in advance.

Tracylynne. Like you I seldom eat beef because I can’t digest it. I bake chicken and boil my favorite veggies on Sunday and use my 20 minutes rice maker as soon as I walk into the house . You know when the shoes and purse gets thrown in the corner. Next week I do Lamb in a crock pot with free veggies, small whole potato and a salad. For snakes, I make one ounce teriyaki chicken dark & white meat on sticks 15 minutes in the oven at 375 and one ounce fish tacos from fresh baked salmon, shredded cabbage ,lite mayo. Instead of tortillas, I use large leafs of lettuce, wrap both snacks in foil and store in the frig; I take 2 to work; carrot sticks w/fish, celery with chicken. NOTE: I wash and put what I am using for the next week in the frig on Sunday in plastic container ;especially veggies stays fresher. I also try to bake something else while I have the oven on. Preparation is the key. No time substitue rotissari chicken from the store. I am an organic pastured lamb, pork, beef, free range chicken; eggs too from the farms person. Luckily, I have always been a proponent for eating the good foods. but for to many years of fad diets and eating too much my weight has been out of of control for too many years; not to mention eating far too much of the wrong stuff like cakes, pies, ice cream.

Hi, TracyLynne, and welcome! Many people have drinking their snacks. Before your shifts, try filling thermoses with hearty soups and/or shakes/smoothies, and sip on them between meals. They can meet your needs for protein, calcium, and fruits and vegetables, and make sure you don’t overdo when you get home. Here are some recipes for soups http://www.trimdownclub.com/recipe_type/soups/ and shakes http://www.trimdownclub.com/recipe_type/drinks/.
