Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Fritoman. Is your wife using the diet under your program or her own name? If it is the latter, I would be happy to work with her one-on-one. If it is on your account, I would be grateful for her age, height, weight, and activity level, so I can give you an estimate of what percentage of your intake would be best for her.
In general, it does tend to be more challenging for women to lose weight than men, especially if peri-menopausal and beyond. Add to this the obstacle of a slowed metabolism from previous restrictive diets, and it can indeed be frustrating. I can tell you that the best medicine in these cases is exercise. If she is already active, it may be a matter of making a few changes to work new muscles, or add in bursts of high-intensity exercise to jump-start her metabolism – for example, jogging or walking uphill or up stairs for 30 seconds every 5 minutes of a stead walk.July 6, 2014 at 11:12 pm #21428

she started taking the shots for diabetes about 6 mouths ago and also takes 2 metformin for diabetes twice a day should she keep up the diabetes meds is that causing her to keep the weight on , also I ordered for her the Biotrust IC 5 do you know if this will help her
Thank You for your helpJuly 7, 2014 at 12:12 am #21430
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Fritoman. At her current weight, you probably have similar energy needs, so no worries there, and she will definitely not be short on protein. Whether or not she uses medications is really something she discusses with her health care provider, who can see all of her labwork and other parameters. If she can workout more often, that may make enough of a difference for the doctor or diabetes specialist to at least lower if not remove the insulin treatment, and then that is one less obstacle to weight management. As for the supplement, studies on the ingredients have been promising, and it is not likely to cause a problem.
Another important issue: if she has started working out, she may be actively swapping fat for muscle tissue, and because muscle weighs more than fat, it may mean that she is getting better without the scale moving. It is better that she assess how she is feeling, how her clothes are fitting, and what her blood sugar levels are doing.July 7, 2014 at 12:25 am #21433
