Yviegee1962MemberI am a newbie, do I have to follow the days plan to the T or can I mix and match other menu items from other days ?

vancewMemberDay 1 calls for “herb sauce prepared” – I went to recipes and found nothing under the search. Ideas?

vancewMemberYviegee, I had to substitute a one fruit for another. One was ripe and one was not.
Update on me. I was a little overwhelmed buying stuff for three days. It was simply way too much food, but I just figured starting anything worthwhile new, that just happens. I’m about to finish my first full day. I did not get hungry. I still have dinner and late snack to go. I’ve done many Master Cleanses (10-13 days no food to speak of), so in that context, I’m really eating a lot of food.
But I remember my first Master Cleanse in 1996. On the third day, I thought I was starving to death. I wasn’t. Not even close. In 2000 I worked to eat as well as I could for two years. The best rule I adopted was this: if at the end of the week, I got 80% right, I made progress. If I tried to push more than that, I created what I call the rubber band effect. At some point I would snap farther back than where I began. So if you just get 80% right, you will be doing awesome!
Since I always strive to do my best, I no longer judge myself. So I don’t beat myself up no matter what happens. If I fall down, I just get back up. Trends never move in one direction (I”m a currency trader), and neither does life. If we move 3 steps forward, it is only natural to come back 1-2 steps before growing more.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Yviegee1962. Absolutely! Make the menu comfortable for you.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, VanceW. “Herb sauce” is just a generic term for broth or high-quality oil (i.e. olive) and herbs/spices.

JHawittMemberDo you have to make everything from scratch? I don’t think I will succeed if I have to make everything. What can I buy from the supermarket for breakfast cereal? What fruits are the best to eat? I love my pasta , what can I buy that is better for me from the supermarket?

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, JHawitt. We do encourage fresh, whole food as much as possible. Unfortunately, most premade, pre-packaged foods are not kind to your weight management efforts. However, if you have access to a health-oriented shop such as Whole Foods Market, Trader Joes, or even a well-equipped CostCo or Target, you can find things that are better than the usual mass-marketed products. For example, breakfast cereals, whole grain pastas (brown rice is the closest to white wheat in taste), and organic fruits. All fruits are good, but some are better organic – you can read more about this here: http://www.trimdownclub.com/when-to-go-organic-2/.
