philpayneMemberHi, I need an answer regarding the suitability of coconut milk in my diet.
My district nurse seems to think that coconut milk is not suitable as it contains a high level of saturated fat. I know this is the case but i see this ingredient in several recipes on this site and other healthy eating recipes. Is this OK to form part of my diet or is it going to contribute to the unhealthy fats in my cholesterol level.
Thanks.

DeborahjjhayesMemberHi! Welcome. They recommend coconut oil as a sustitute for olive oil,and in recipes to replace shortening and cooking oil. It’s because it is healthier and all natural. Ossie come on later and probably add to this. Good luck!

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Phil. Traditional coconut milk in moderation is fine, and today there are ultra-diluted versions (i.e. So Delicious) that can fit more easily into a meal plant. As for the benefits vs. risks of coconut, there are both, and it often depends on your particular medical history and genetic makeup. You can read more here: http://www.trimdownclub.com/the-coconut-craze. Note that you can also get many coconut benefits from the water, which has no appreciable amount of saturated fats.
