Kyroeli000MemberI’m visiting my grandparents for a week, and I just started this program. I won’t really be able to do anything since my grandma is the cook. What do I do?

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Kyroeli000. First, portion control can make all the difference. Second, fill up on lighter items, and take smaller amounts for the rest. Third, try to drink water and avoid beverages with sugar. Fourth, remember these key tips:
*A portion size is about the size of your fist for everything other than oils and oily additives like nut butters and salad dressings.
*Try to eat as many fruits and vegetables as possible (at least 5 total servings per day.)
*Try to get at least 3 servings per day of calcium-rich foods
*Avoid overdoing condiments and especially sweeteners
*Go easy on any appetizers – we understand that tasting may be important, since you probably do not want to refuse outright and hurt your grandmother’s feelings or not enjoy her cooking.
If you have a chance to see what and how she is preparing foods, you can get a sense of where the challenges may lie, and what may be the safer bets. - AuthorPosts
