Can someone tell me how to determine Body Mass Index?
Sure, click this link here: http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/BMI/bmicalc.htm.
Hi, Deb. BMI can be calculated a couple of ways, depending on which system you use –
US: multiple your weight (in pounds) by 4.88, then divide this by your height (in feet) squared. In your case: 147 x 4.88 divided by 4.9 x 4.9 or 717.36/24.01 = 29.9
Metric: divide your weight (in kilograms) by your height (in meters) squared (kg/m2). In your case: 66.8 kg (1 kg = 2.2 lbs), divided by 1.5 m x 1.5 m (1 m = 39.4 inches) = 66.8/2.25 = 29.7
The difference is very small, so it really does not matter which equation you use.
