carfriday827MemberI have Stage 4 Kidney disease and I am trying to loose weight. High blood pressure is a real issue and being overweight makes it worse. I have to limit my protein intake to 65 grams or less a day. Does anyone else have this problem or any info to help?

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, carfriday827, and welcome. Until others chime in, I would like to give you a couple of tips for adjusting your menu here to suit your needs, assuming from you’re post that you are not a diabetic and are not limited in potassium, phosphorus, or magnesium.
– For every snack, substitute the protein exchange with a fat, fruit, or vegetable exchange
– For lunch and dinner, substitute 1 protein exchange (e.g., an ounce of meat/poultry/seafood/dairy) with a fat, fruit, or vegetable exchange.
– Using the vegetarian menu can help – even if you don’t follow it all the time, creating one to trade in a couple of days a week can be enough
– Take advantage of herbs and spices to avoid sodium and support the rest of your health.
