I am allergic to hemp what can I replace it with
Hi, Rebennett. You can use chia seeds or freshly ground flax seeds instead of hemp hearts/seeds.
Your initial advertising video, states bananas is one of the five foods you never eat. However, a number of recipes have bananas as an ingredient.
Hi, Daphnique56. Banana is not included in our five foods. We actually encourage it! Perhaps the confusion is from one of the images the webtool assigns to our link, which is a banana (for whatever reason). The five foods are all those that are overly processed, so fresh fruit is definitely not represented.
I’m surprised to see the recommendation for whole flax seeds. It’s my understanding that flax seed should be ground in order to get the benefit as the seed coat is not digestible and will likely be passed while in stool. I alway grind my flax seed.
Hi, Cgoeins. The Nutribullet (and similar appliances) grind all of the content, including the flaxseeds, to a highly digestible consistency. We recommend to start with whole flaxseeds so as to preserve the nutritional value and prevent oxidation up until just seconds before consumption. For this reason, we also recommend storing them in the refrigerator or freezer until grinding and eating/drinking.
is this recipe keto?
Hi, meccadalton. This recipe is not keto “as is,” but you can make it keto by replacing the berries and banana with a cup of non-starchy raw vegetable (such as tomato and/or cucumber) and a tablespoon of nut butter (such as peanut or almond).
What’s hemp hearts?
Hi, Vbousley. Hemp seeds are the seeds of the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa. They are from the same species as cannabis (marijuana) but a different variety. However, they contain only trace amounts of THC, the psychoactive compound in marijuana. Hemp hearts are nutritious and rich in omega-3 fatty acids and iron. See examples of products here:

Hello. I have only just joined and love the look of some of these recipes. How can I add these recipes to my meal planner
Hi, Annie, and welcome! If you use the personal version of the Menu Planner application (access it by clicking on the “My Food Choices” icon in the toolbar above your current menu), you will see some of our recipes in the “Recipes” subcategory of each major food group. For newer recipes that have not yet been added into the system, you can use them to substitute for the main ingredient in your meal. You can also match up the exchanges visible at the end of each recipe and when you click on “Exchange mode” in the toolbar above your menu. It doesn’t need to be a perfect match to work.
I have porage oats for breakfast I put raisins in the bowl 1/2 a cup of oats and a cup of fluid made up with up of 1/2 semi skimmed milk and 1/2 a cup of water which I cook in the microwave.
When cookee I top with a handful of blue berries
Comments are great I m just finding my way here as I joined an hour ago and this procedure is new to me
Me too, it’s a little confusing. I’m not that good on the iPad.
Where do I find a list of exchanges that tell me the number of carbs, proteins etc of each?
Hi, Kristie. You can find that information here: http://www.trimdownclub.com/exchanges-lists.
Will hemp hearts test positive on drug tests?
Hi, deabral. According to clinical research, the amount of active compound in hemp hearts is too low to affect drug test.
I use 18 shake every morning using 2% milk and usually frozen strawberries. Is this ok?
Hi, cassellmom2. That’s fine, though it would make for a very small breakfast. If you make 1-1/2 servings (1-1/2 scoops, cups of milk and berries), that would better meet your needs.
Hi can I replace water to 1/2 coconut water n 1/2 water ??
Hi, Mars. Sure – especially if the coconut water is unsweetened.

Is there anything else that can be substituted for Hemp Hearts, these are not available in Australia??
Hi, Corella. If you can’t find hemp hearts where you usually shop, you can order them online, e.g. at http://www.hempfoods.com.au/.
Hemp Foods Australia produce Hemp Seeds which are the ‘nourishing heart of hemp.’ I found them in the fridge of my local health food shop.
I am just starting and love shakes in the morning, but I am allergic to bananas. Is there a substitute for them? Also is using Almond milk all right?
Hi, dmswenson52. Almond milk is fine if it is unsweetened; ideally, it also wouldn’t have carageenan, but that is a more individual thing. To substitute for banana, you can try either other starchy fruits (apple, pear) or other high-potassium fruits (pear, orange, papaya, mango, apricots, melon, prune, fig, persimmon, guava, pomegranate).
Where do you buy chia seeds never heard of them before
Hi, Kathleen. You can buy chia seeds at health-oriented shops, including online (e.g., http://www.bulkpowders.ie/chia-seeds.html?dpc=BULK5&msg=Get%20%E2%82%AC5%20off%20your%20first%20order%20when%20spending%20over%20%E2%82%AC10&gclid=CNPIyf_U98sCFckV0wodUzkL5Q).

Are there more recipes for smoothies? I love them and need to get one a day in. I usually use 1/2 a banana 1 c of strawberries 1 c of yogurt and water. I will add a little stevia for sweetness. I’m loving this community !
Hi, Waterdance. We have many recipes for smoothies. Just enter the “Drinks” category of the Recipes area, and you will see them 🙂
I thought banans are bad for you. One of the five foods to avoid.
Hi, Eviverette. No, bananas are great – definitely not to be avoided by most people.
My smoothie includes, spinach, carrot, banana, satsumas, chia seeds and mixed berries with skimmed milk. How do I work out the exhanges ?
Hi, Carol. That sounds great!! The exchanges depend on the amounts – you can compare what you use to this list: http://www.trimdownclub.com/exchanges-lists. You can also post your exact recipe with the amounts here, and I would be happy to make the calculation for you.
My husband and I have just started and so pleased to hear we can still have our morning smoothie for breakfast which I make the night before and store in fridge we use spinach, chia seeds, coconut oil, banana and either pineapple or strawberries or mango ?
We usually have a shake with 1/4 cup oats, 6 almonds, 1/3 cup seasonable berries, 2 tbsp of yoghurt, 150 mls low fat milk, 1/4 banana. Can this substitute for breakfast menu?
Hi, Dave. Absolutely!
SOUNDS GOOD, I’m going to try this.
Hi, skfaris10. If you have another source of protein and omega-3 fats (such as an omega-3 egg), then no.
Do you need the hemp hears and chia seeds?
Sorry, I just read the last message and I saw where to purchace hemp hearts. No need to answer my repetitious question.
