ParticipantI have recently developed allergies to foods I used to eat all the time. Grains is the biggest problem I have and it makes all my joints hurt super bad. I get migraines if I eat sugar and if I eat seafood, I die. Mushrooms give me mouth blisters. Is there ANYone out there who can help me? I have a family of 3 other people I cook for. I also cook as a home health aide. Please someone help if you can.

MemberHi, Anne. Hopefully you are under the supervision of a healthcare professional who is helping you in this matter.
As far as this program goes, since you can choose what foods go into your menu, this limits the problem – you can just avoid seafood and mushrooms. Further, because we encourage whole foods, there is a low chance that allergens will be in your food without you knowing it – but do be diligent about reading labels and avoiding allergens.
Sugar is discouraged in this program anyway, so no proglem there.
The issue of grains may be trickier. Is it all grains, or just certain ones – it is very important to clarify this.
In the meantime, you can get your starch from starchy vegetables and legumes, such as potatoes, sweet potatoes/yams, winter squash, and you can make typical grain products from ground nuts and flaxseeds (the omega-3s in flax will probably be good for your joints).
Again, it is best to get some guidance from professionals who really know your case, as we don’t want to lead you down the wrong path. - AuthorPosts
