Hey this is our first week on trim down and although so much of this lifestyle is exactly what we have been searching for, I have to say I am intimimidated by the amount of prep that goes into each day. It’s good to think about your food and not mindlessly eat whatever is available but at the same time how do you avoid the stress of the constant planning, shopping, and cooking to be prepared. I am the largest I’ve ever been in my life including both of my pregnancies and my blood pressure has been high so I need to make this change work. Any advice for success would be awesome!

Hi, WayneHope, and welcome! First of all, please do ease into the program and adjust gradually. That way it can be fun and comfortable, and eventually become second-nature. Second, you can get some great support in the groups (link in the upper right corner); “Successful Beginnings” is the most popular, but you may find others you like as well.

I’ve been on the plan for 5 days, sticking to the menu planner. This is more food than I’ve ever consumed and I feel like I’ve gained weight! I’m afraid to jump on the scale! Is it possible to eliminate the snacks? My normal breakfast (before this program) was a protein shake (whey) with 1/2 a frozen banana or 1/4 cup blueberries. A few years back I was on Ideal Protein for 7 months – lost 62 lbs and gained it back when I started to add the carbs – so for me to be eating this many carbs is very intimidating. I’m 65 years old and my metabolism has slowed immensely. Any suggestions to my fear of too much food?

Hi, mjc280. I’m happy to read that you are not hungry on this program. Technically, you can eliminate snacks (just be sure to get a total of 5 fruit/vegetable servings and 3 calcium rich food/beverage servings each day).
HOWEVER, note that the reason we give you so much food and then lower the amount gradually as you lose weight is to get your metabolism up so you can eat normal amounts of food without regaining weight.
Since your metabolism has slowed, the best way to get your metabolism back up is through physical activity. If you are active now, you can make some changes to your current routine – use new muscles, add in sporadic bursts of high-intensity activity (like jogging for 30 seconds for every 5 minutes of a walk). If you would like more guidance here, please do repost here.
