Hi
Just planned the first week’s menu and I’m a bit puzzled. I’m in Australia but have travelled through the US so most food items are familiar. Firstly, I’m having trouble understanding what is meant by “uncured” ham and bacon – I thought that “curing” was the process whereby pork was converted to ham and bacon. Secondly, I marked breakfast foods as my favourite except I deleted Weetbix because I think they are over-processed and prefer unprocessed, organic cereals (I make my own Meusli). The week’s menu gave me plenty of meats but only 1 serve of cooked porridge (only a Winter meal for me – and it’s Summer here in Oz). I love my breakfast cereal (oats) so do you have a problem with this?
Thanks for your help
Hi, John, and welcome. You are correct about the curing process – uncured means it is cured without chemical nitrites, which have been linked to cancer. As for the rest of your mail, that is absolutely fine 🙂
