Can we eat whole nuts on this diet? If so, what does it “swap for” and what is a portion?
Hi, Kath. Absolutely! A unit of nuts is 1/2 ounce (14 grams or about 2 tablespoons), but you can have more than 1 if it fits into your meal (and if not, you can move things around to make it fit). Each unit equals 1/2 protein + 1 fat exchange, but you can swap it for a protein exchange. You can see the list of exchanges at http://www.trimdownclub.com/exchanges-lists.
