4 months ago I had the Implanon inserted into my arm for contraception (obvs), ever since I have had it in my mood swings and weight has been horrendous, I am young and when I used to healthy eat before the weight used to come off me, however I was never motivated back then because I was too immature. I feel as if the implant really is effecting my weight loss but the doctor I went to see told me that it doesn’t effect metabolic rate what so ever but does effect the increase in appetite. I was wandering what I should do, leave it in or take it out? Its becoming a very stressful decision that I really need advice on.
Hi, Bethany. Contraception methods have been linked to weight gain – not through metabolic rate, but through other avenues. I’m no expert, but if you’re miserable in more than one way from the current method, I would suggest exploring an alternative.
