MemberI am a 62 yr old female 5’4″ (used to be 5’6″ – have considerable scoliosis and I suppose natural settling over time). I weight 129 lbs which in and of itself does not bother me. But over the last approximately 5 years my stomach has grown 2 – 3″ despite my regular exercise virtually my whole life. I learned in the video that the ratio of carbs to proteins is a key. What is that ratio and what can you suggest? I’m also aware that by combining certain foods you can get a complete protein. Can you explain? Is it possible for my stomach to “shrink”? It seems improbable to me right now.

MemberHi, Kathy. The ratio we recommend is about 1 gram of protein for each 3 grams of carbs, and for those carbs to be complex and unrefined as possible.
With regard to combining to get complete protein, that is done primarily with non-animal foods, and has to do with the specific amino acids and their amounts in foods. If you’re not a vegan, you don’t really need to worry about that.
As for your stomach, some peole do indeed report a decrease in general appetite which has been described as “shrinking stomach.” Our plan recommends eating a lot of fiber, water-rich, and high-protein foods, which can give you the feeling of fullness.July 23, 2016 at 8:15 pm #36281Ossie-Sharon
