MemberI am new at this so hope that I am asking my question in the right location. I love steel cut oats cereal but it has never shown up on my menu and don’t know what I should eat with it or how much. Any suggestions?

MemberHi, Tracy. I see that “Oatmeal, Cooked” is one of the items selected for you in your Menu Planner food lists, which is essentially steel-cut oats. When you click on any starchy breakfast item in your menu (such as English muffin on Sunday), you will get a list of alternatives that includes oatmeal.

MemberHi, Alishia. Every type is a bit different. Be sure to check out the label to see how many grams of carbohydrate are in a cup – each 15 grams is a “carb” exchange. To see how many you are allotted for each meal, click on “Exchange mode” in the toolbar above any of your current menus. Each exchange equals the following:
1 carb exchange = 15 grams of carbohydrates + up to 3 grams of protein
1 protein exchange = 7 grams of protein + up to 5 grams of fat
1 fat exchange = 5 grams of fat
1 fruit exchange = 15 grams of carbohydrates
1 vegetable exchange = 5 grams of carbohydrates + up to 2 grams of protein
1 sweet exchange = up to 15 grams of carbohydrates + up to 5 grams of fat
1 free exchange = up to 5 grams of carbohydrates or up to 2 grams of protein or fatWith the cereal, you can have a cup of milk (we recommend full cream), which will add 1 carb + 1 protein.
