what is a free spread?
Hi, thimaryjane. A free spread is a spread that either has negligible carbohydrates, fats, or proteins so does not need to be counted as an exchange, OR in a certain small amount does not need to be counted. This option generally appears when you have bread or crackers (or something similar) without another item in your meal that can be used as a spread.
