MemberIs this diet compatable for people with Diabeties taking insulin? What is the best way to create a diabetic friendly menu?

MemberRosemary, you will need to be in charge of your diabetes. I counted the carbs for my day one and it was about double what I would allow myself normally, But I gave the appropriate amount of insulin for the carbs and all seems to be ok. I am hoping the blending of the food will help me be more fit. I don’t need to lose weight but rather need to eat healthier. I will watch my glucose numbers and update if I see any problems.

MemberNote that the carbs in this program are all high in fiber, and are nearly always coupled with a protein and/or fat. The menu patterns are designed this way to keep blood sugars and insulin balanced.

MemberHi I am also a newbie as of today. I am pre-diabetic and need to lose 30 lbs. I am confused as to all the diferent sites and don’t know where to begin. Also what is raw cheese, never heard of it before.
Thanks, appreciate any help.January 28, 2013 at 8:59 am #7551Ossie-Sharon
MemberHi, Roz and welcome! Raw cheese (dairy) is made from milk that has not been pasteurized or homogenized. You can read up on it here http://www.trimdownclub.com/all-about-raw-milk/.
Raw vegan cheese is a puree of softened nuts, seeds, and/or nutritional yeast.January 28, 2013 at 9:03 am #7552Ossie-Sharon
MemberRegarding where to begin, the best process is this:
1. Complete your profile, including your height, weight, and weight goals.
2. Read the online guides (under “My Downloads” above)
3. Go through the Menu Planner process (this is a weekly task)
4. Track your progress through the Progress Meter, perhaps track your intake through the online food diary.
5. When you have a chance, read the online articles.
At all times, you can share your questions, challenges, and progress in the forums.
Note that the principles of the Trim Down Club are based on helping people like you – with metabolic challenges such as pre-diabetes. The foods and schedules are designed to optimize how your body processes sugar and the insulin response.January 28, 2013 at 3:12 pm #7590Roz18
MemberOssie… thank you for your response. I look forward to trying this life style change.

MemberI am a Type II diabetic and just starting this program. Sometimes the options seem to be more carbs than I would normally allow. As long as my blood sugars stay within a good range, should I continue to follow the menu or is there some way to modify the menu that is selected for me?
January 29, 2013 at 8:04 am #7687Ossie-Sharon
MemberThe menus are actually quite low in carbs, about 40-45% of calories, where usual eating patterns are 50-65%. In addition, most of the carbs here are high in fiber. The program was designed specifically to balance blood glucose and insulin metabolism.

MemberI too have diabetes type 2, and I agree that I am responsible for taking control of my diabetes. However I can’t do that without the proper information, and if a recipe doesn’t tell me what a portion size is or how many grams of sugar or carbs are in that serving I don’t have the information I need to control my diabetes. I also have another disease that requires me to tightly control my salt intake. I can do that pretty much by not using salt in the recipes. But the sugar content is very much needed. Nancy

MemberHi I’m a newbie too, I’m , 55, 4″ 10″, pre-diabetic and need to lose 30 – 50 lbs. I also have a lot of food allergies; to facilitate my allergy meds, I do not eat dairy & hate yogurt, even the soy brands…btw my Dr also does not want me to use soy products and restrict my intake of onions, carrots, tomatoes (which I HATE anyway) and fruits–all way too high in sugar as my body metabolizes everything into stored fat.
I’ve tried everything from vegan to proper food combining, it all worked at first…
Help! I need answers! What’s a girl who lives with “THE Carb Nazi” to do?

MemberOssie–
Do Not know if You are the Person to talk to or Not? I have tried to use the “Meal Planner” Several times but NONE of the Food’s listed on the Planner are things that I eat!! Most of time I cook for Myself since My Wife works & I’m retired. Eggs & potatoes for Breakfast + coffee; Fish & Green Beans for Lunch & for evening Meal what every My Wife feels like cooking {ect. Pancakes to night}. Maybe once or twice a month we might Have beef or Chicken it just depends. So how to Fill Out “meal Planner” I do NOT know, since those food’s are not Listed. Only food What I call “Fancy Foods” are listed, not just “plane foods”. So what to do? - AuthorPosts
