Hi started this great plan yesterday and I’m loving it so far. ? Though, does it matter if u skip a snack as I simply did not have the time to eat the second snack today.
Hi, Aimee. That’s fine, no stress. 🙂
Hi, Ian Edwards. No, the recipe doesn’t cover the extras – they are there to meet the rest of your nutritional needs, and the system selects them to be something you can incorporate into the recipe if you wish. If you feel it is too much for you, then just skip it.
I am a little confused as this recipe is only part of the lunch menu for the day, there is also 30g of hard cheese, 1 cup of aubergine and 1tab of honey mustard dressing. Does the recipe replace the extras or is it as well….it is too much to eat. Dawn
This sounds really tasty can’t wait to try some
I slightly adapted this recipe and used sweet potatoes instead of white potatoes. I also added extra broccoli and some cauliflower and substituted the rice flour with spelt flour. The result was extremely tasty and filling. Great recipe which I’ll certainly look forward to eating again.
I tried this recipe, it was very nice…
I sliced the potatoes very thin but still I needed to cook this dish in the oven for 1 hour and 10 mins…
I also doubled the recipe and found it was the right amount for 6 people…
I found 45gr of broccoli didn’t look much so I put a whole head of broccoli florets in totalling 200gr (7oz), the eggs were optional but I still only put in 3…
After 1 hour in the oven it still wasn’t ready and with all the cheese it looked a bit greasy so I removed the foil and put it back in the oven for a further 10 mins…
On another occasion I cooked this dish again but this time I used less cheese and I put some dry breadcrumbs on the top to absorb any excess oil from the melted cheese and I had ran out of foil…
The verdict was, if I want to use breadcrumbs then I don’t need to reduce the amount of cheese because it was a bit dry this time round… There was no problem without using foil on the top, that seemed fine…
Next time when I try it, I’m going to dice the potatoes into small cubes and par boil them first for 3 mins so then i’ll only need to cook the dish in the oven for about 45 mins…
I served it with home baked ham from my slow- cooker (croc-pot) and salad…
Everybody loved it…!!!
Hi, Lois. It is medium. In general, if it is not specified, it is medium, but I have updated this recipe. Thanks 🙂
1/2 onion; large, small, or something in between? Couldn’t you be more specific?
how do we know the carb, protein, fat, etc. content for this recipe and other recipes on your website. There are times I would like to substitute this recipe for something else on the menu history and I am unable to because A) it’s not available on the food choice options B) I don’t know the carb, protein, etc content to make the switch.
how can I add/exchange a recipe into the menu planner
DITTO!
Where do we get nutritional information on recipes?
I do not like tomatoes in recipes unless it is a sauce with small chunks of tomatoes. Could I omit the tomatoes in this recipe?
Picamoni
I am adding the recipes to my favorites…..
Used cauliflower as hubby doesn’t like broccoli, we loved it
How Can I save a recipe to a personal directory of recipes for food I`d be willing to cook and eatÉ
Hi, mamalill. Generally yes, but if you swap out the cottage cheese for something else (i.e. goat cheese), it will freeze better.
Can this recipe be frozen. way to much for me. don’t think my hubby will like it. if i can freeze it that would be great.
Why not parboil potatoes just enough so they still stand up to slicing thin. This may avoid the potatoes being raw.
This recipe is one of the best I have tried I put mushrooms in it when frying the onions my family eat it all and said make it again I cook the potato first in the microwave which made it quicker to cook about 40mins very yummy
I think mushrooms would be nice in this to?
This recipe is awesome:) my family couldn’t stop eating it even when it has stuff in it they don’t like. i put some salami in it and it was good!
Hi to all. The recipe has been modified according to all of your input.
o and also the potatoes were stil raw to top it off
will coconut milk and/or coconut oil work?
After 55 minutes the potatoes were still raw and hard. I added another 55 minutes.

I made this with asparagus instead of broccoli. It was delicious!
There are only 8 eggs in this recipe – which serves 9 to 16. This is less than 1 egg per serve – and if you have small servings it is only 1/2 an egg….
i am concerned about the amount of eggs in this recipe
This is sooo good! I added half of a zucchini squash to the recipe. This will be one of my favorites.
To all asking about substitutes for raw dairy – the recipe has been upgraded to include the organic low-fat option.
To all asking for British units, these have been added, too.
For those citing the watery consistency, the fluid content has been decreased.
🙂
Quinoa or even just regular flour can be substituted for rice flour in this particular recipe.
Hi, Melinda – yes, both cheeses together, but you can do it however you want. Hope it turned out for you!
Hi, Sylvia. An option for this is in the works. Thanks for the input!
Hi, Rhoda. You can use organic fortified instead.
This has the possibility of serving 8, in m y plan I need to eat 1/2 cup. I know i can cut the recipe in half but is there a way to present smaller recipe?
When you say add the cheese, do you both the cottage and the raw together? I just put the cottage cheese on top of the whole casserole, because it was too ate, then put it in the oven, we’ll see how it comes out…lol!
Please leave the American measurements as well as putting in european measurements…some of your other recipes contain both versions of measurements. Trying this tomorrow. This will probably freeze well if there is only two people, I am just going to pre measure for future servings, thaw and rebake.
Hi Ossie
I dont have. nor. do I know any place that sells raw product.
Would prefer recipes for smaller quantities. It’s a fiddle to work out how much 4oz means when the recipe serves 9-16 people. Also would prefer metric (as we mainly use in the UK) for quantities and temperatures and measurement that are not in cups. I have cup measures but many ingredients are not easily measured in cups.My American mother would say exactly the opposite so it’s what you’re used to that counts I suppose! An alternative would help your British slimmers please!
Can I use fat free cheese and skim milk instead?
I use ricotta cheese as a substitute for cottage cheese in cooked products. Hope that’s OK.
What can be substituted for rice flour?
I hate cottage cheese. Can I substitute another product?
I followed the instructions, but I really did not like it. It was way too watery for me. I will try it next time with less milk and see how it works. Maybe try it with some other free vegetables like mushrooms. Hang in there every one. xxx
We too tried this dish and found it bland. Ours was a little watery, but, eatable. I think my problem may have been the type of cheese we used.
There are only two of us!
How can I adapt?
Very Tasty, but not good to look at. Too pale and watery when following the recipe exactly. I would mix the cottage cheese with the milk mixture and sprinkle the top with the cheese. Bake without the foil on top and it should be great.
What coould I substiotute for rice flour?
I like the sound of this. You can buy cups from ebay which makes this diet plan much easier. I shall use regular milk as I can’t get raw milk and organic products are too expensive. I am a pensioner on a limited income.
Would prefer British measurement system rather than cups.
also have noted a lack of garlic in general list – have added it to this recipe
What can I substitute for the dairy in this?
