Home › Forums › Nutrition & Diet › Is GI Bread the same as SWG bread
Hi. I’ve just joined. I need to ask some questions about my diet. I live in the UK. First question: My local bakery sells bread called GI bread. Is this the same as SWG ?
No, they are different, but not necessarily mutually exclusive. The “GI” stands for glycemic index, which just indicates that the bread was prepared to minimize the impact on blood sugar. It does not guarantee that sprouted grains were used. SWG breads are generally low-GI.
OK thanks. I haven’t come across SWG bread here in the UK, but perhaps I haven’t looked hard enough.
