Ingredients
- ½ cup / 100 gm millet
- ½ tsp. / 2½ gm butter
- 1½ cups water
- ½ tsp. / 2½ ml olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 clove garlic
Directions
- In a pan, heat butter and add in the millet. Over low heat, continuously sauté the millet for 20 minutes until it achieves a golden color.
- Add in the water and olive oil and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat, add in the garlic and onion, cover the pot, and cook for another 20 minutes.
- When the water has been absorbed and the millet is tender, remove from heat. Best served as a side dish.
Hi, Dewheat. Any cooking grain will do – brown rice, quinoa, oat or buckwheat groats, etc (these are gluten-free, too).
What can I replace Millet with, I am not comfortable with the side effects of millet
Hi, ChrisstalFord. The amount is 1-1/2 cups (12 fluid ounces) or 360 ml.
This recipe doesn’t give the water measurements.
