MemberMy basic question here is: How do you fit this diet program in when you are fighting a virus and/or cold and are sick? It is just a coincidence, I am sure, but since starting the program about 3 weeks ago I have been fighting some kind of bug on and off. Then, after doing my walk yesterday I succumbed to weakness, nausea and vomiting. Today I feel weak and without appetite for any food. This morning I have the sense that I will get better but have no appetite. Now what? Any suggestions? Rones

MemberI had the same problem, just as I really got on board I became very ill and well… there went my healthy eating. Ossie recommended trying to eat as much soup as possible.
I had basically just threw carrots, celery, mushrooms, beans and onions in with low sodium chicken broth and let it boil till the veggies were soft. This gets veggies in as well as liquids.
I had some bread here and there as well.I hope this helps, I know how hard it is to sick with it when your not into eating.

MemberOssie had posted this in another forum.
Soups seem to be the answer for sick days, because they feel like carbs, but you can throw/hide a lot of nutritional value in them – beans, shiitake mushrooms (immune-supporting), grains, vegetables).
You can also choose higher-protein carbs like spelt bread and pasta, quinoa, etc. and be sure to spread high-protein things on the breads (or even avocado is good), add high-protein items and vegetables to the pasta, etc.
If you’re good at unconscious eating (i.e. munching without paying attention), try nuts, dried fruits, etc.
And of course, fluids. You can sneak some nutrition in by drinking organic vegan milks. – See more at: http://www.trimdownclub.com/forums/topic/our-nutrition-advice/#sthash.PvpaWbjX.dpufFebruary 28, 2013 at 1:41 am #9486rones
MemberKsprietsma, Thanks for the advice and suggestions. My wife made me a cup of chicken broth soup with cooked celery, onions, parsley, and garlic and it went down well. It even tasted good. Thanks again.
