MemberHi, I’m new here, feeling down as I live in Italy and am having trouble finding the food here. So I’m going to ajusting my meal planner yet again to help find alternatives to go shopping. I arrived in Italy 6 years ago (originally from Scotland) and was 65kilos but over the years has crept up to 92 kilos. I joined over a week ago but have yet to get started, so today is day 1

MemberHello sterlingchloe,
You are correct, this is an American system. nHowever ifb your intention like me is to loose weight then you should be able to understand enough of the foods to get along OK. Incidentally I only joined a few days ago.
If you are serious about loosing weight then Salad Cream is one of the foods to avoid. However the do have mayonaise and hollandaise sauce.
Terminology I am not sure about I google to find an explanation. I find Wikipedia quite useful. I am a little surprised by some of the things in their menu lists but since the system appears to work I am not going to knock it.
I did go through the menus and select everything I like but since I live on the Isle of Skye many of the products are not readily available so I am going to have to modify my diet.January 8, 2013 at 9:32 am #5221Harbourview
MemberHello Sabre,
I believe there are two ways to get to recipes. There is a heading at the top of the homepage to take you to the recipes. Also if you go into Apps and Menu planner, items on the menus with a recipe attached are marked. just place your curser on the mark and click it.January 8, 2013 at 9:41 am #5222awayagain4
MemberDay two for me. Not doing too badly. I am sticking to the basic plan of eating six meals a day and choosing from filling and healthy foods as best I can. I am taking the plan slowly and reading the posts that have proved to be a mine of information. I love the forums and taking part in the discussions. With all hands on deck we can steer this ship into calmer waters.

MemberEvening all….well it is here..lol! Hey it is great to read all the postings…it is the very thing that is keeping this “cruise ship” afloat (quote PattyBowker)! I am getting so much “hope” reading through the forums. Thanks all of you. I understand the daunting feeling Mary Bishop, regarding how much weight you have to lose…I feel it too…but as my girls tell me, “5ks at a time Mum”! They are so right…and that is my aim…just 5 for now…then another 5, and so on! Dawnrosie, all the best with the moving. I will be tuning in again and in the meantime, I am cheering you all on…

MemberI am interested to find that many people still use Bread. I understand SWG and know that once a seed has germinated or sprouted that the carbohydrates are fully released, possibly used. But I for one have given up all wheat based products. I may use SWG flour once I have lost the weight in order to try to keep my weight in permanent check but not until then.

MemberI am interested to see where thing can be bought in the UK. I live non the Isle of Skye off the north west coast of Scotland. We do not have any of the shops you mention. I guess I shall have to adapt my own menu plan according not to what I like but to what is available. Silly really I should have done this in the first place!

MemberHi carreenia
I’d have weighed myself before having the coffee. Best wait until you’ve been to the bathroom now!January 8, 2013 at 3:31 pm #5273annaleeramos
MemberGood morning all. I have had my breakfast and have prepared for my snack. I too live in TX, but im still waiting on the rain. I am full, happy, and content. It is so great to hear from all of you. It is so much easier when I know I am not doing this all on my own. Day 2 for me and I am full of glee.

MemberI have a question. Is it better to weigh myself every day, or is it better to do it once a week?
January 8, 2013 at 3:50 pm #5277bellaloo
MemberHi annaleeramos
I weigh myself every day. It is important to weigh yourself at the same time of day. You are usually the lightest first thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything. Use the washroom first too.
