I’m sorry that I’m taking all the space here, but now I have another question for all of you. I have found the first thing on this program that I really don’t care for, and that is 1 C. of lentils. I put salt and pepper on it, that helped a little, then I put Herb Provence on it, that helped a little more, then fianlly I chopped up my C. of green peppers and put that in it, it was ok. But if someone has a great idea to jazz up the lentils, please let me know! I was able to get them down, but really did not enjoy them. Thanks, Katie

Hi Katie, I only like lentils in soup, but on whole I do try to avoid them because they give me to much wind….sorry if thats to much info. My hubby likes lentils with mushrooms (which are on the free veggie list)and a sprinkle of parmessan!!!otherwise sorry don’t have any other suggestions. Will try the french toast one of these days but I just love my porridge in the morning, and fnd it hard to change from this. Hope you enjoy your weekend before starting back.
I have, sorry angelina has another birthday party tomorrow and then Pizza night followed by sunday lunch at a friends (lasagna) and afternoon tea with family (usually includes ice-cream or cake or both!!!) so I will have to say NO constantly this weekend and\or do a lot of walking and other exercise to make up for the times I didn’t manage to say NO!!!!
Hope everyone has a great weekend….

Hi, stgeofun. Try sautéing them with chopped onions in sauces that you can make from low-salt soup broths, herbs, and a little cornstarch.

I have a similar problem with lentils, dry beans, etc. I just don’t put them into my menus. The weight is slowly going down and as I said before, it is not bouncing up and down 3lbs like it was before TDC. I am so pleased. My hip surgery is March 19 and after recovery I can add some physical activity which for me is aquacise and walking. I am the Jewish woman and have yet to see any Passover suggestions. Good wishes to us all for sharing and doing what is good for us.

Hi everyone, slowly getting there with changing one or two things around on my menu sheet.
Jackiee, I have not been a member for very long at all. I am into my 2nd week.
I love my lentils in soup but tried them yesterday boiled in water until soft then I put them on plate and ate them along with the other veges, was ok
Wishing you all a good weekend with lots of success with your eating plans.

thanks for the suggestions on the lentils. I’ll keep experimenting with them. Ossie, I think the onions and low sodium broth would make a difference. I’ll try it! Thanks

    Hi everyone,
Just checking in again…I only get a chance on the weekends, though I’m always reading the posts as they come in. Everyone has such great information and questions…the forums are, in my opinion, this site’s greatest resource!

JACKIEE: Thanks for asking. No word on the job situation yet, except that the next round of layoffs will happen in about 2-3 weeks. Then around 350 people will be let go. 🙁 The waiting and not knowing is really tough. I did try the SWG English Muffins though…figured if I’m going to be stress eating might as well do it with healthy stuff. And holy cow are they ever good!!! I had to have the second one the first night I tried it. I just keep it simple…toasted with a bit of butter. I’m seeing a lot of people using goat cheese throughout the posts…I’ve never tried it before, so I think I’ll get some tomorrow when I go shopping.

I can say I’ve actually been 100% on the plan this week. Snacks are the tough one for me…I stick with fruits/veggies and bits of cheese throughout the day and my newly beloved swg muffins at night. Water is still my biggest challenge…I do use a drop of MIO when I’m stuck but mostly just add a bit of non-concentrated fruit juice to flavour the water.

My brother bragged yesterday about how he lost some more weight…he’s now 20lbs less than me! And he’s only doing a short walk every day and he doesn’t exactly diet. While I’m very happy for him, I’m also quite jealous, and almost want to smack him for losing it so easily!! LOL. Anyways, that’s another motivation for me to lose the weight…sibling rivalry…can’t have him have the only bragging rights!

Time to get back at my Income Tax. Having Irish Stew this weekend in honour of St. Patrick’s Day. Have a great weekend all!

ppeddle…it is a known fact, that most men lose weight much faster than women. My son has just lost over 100 pounds and is running the 5K St. Paddy’s Day Race in Chicago this morning. I am so proud of him. I was concerned about his weight, now I just hope as he starts to eat more food, he will continue to control his weight. He looks fantastic! So be happy for your brother, and just keep working on this program. I lose very slowly, but all the health benefits during the wait for the weight to come off are a real bonus! Good Luck!

magg…I buy my bread at Natural Grocers, however, our regular markets carry it too. It is always in the freezer section, and this is where you will have to keep it when you buy it because of no preservatives, etc. Ezekiel bread is one of the most common brands. I have not been able to find SWG flour either, but I love the oat flour, and I also use brown rice flour. You can find those at the Natural Grocers or Real Foods stores too. Some of the grain flours are in the regular stores too. I keep my oat flour in the freezer because that is where I found it in the store. But the other flour, I just keep on the shelf. I guess that’s ok, that’s where it was in the store! lol I really like the SWG bread. It isn’t like a warm yummy comfort roll or fresh baked bread, but it is nutty tasting and when toasted, is wonderful. My favorite is to spread it with goat cheese. You should try it! Good Luck!

sunshine…I’ll have to try the brown banana. I love the recipes on this program. Lentils has been my only challenge, but even those I can eat once in awhile. Stick to the program, we’re all in this together!

sandrae…I use that menu occasionally as well. It sometimes is easier than preparing so many recipes. But I like to cook, and I have loved everything I’ve tried (except the lentils, lol). I’m really busy with school and church responsibilities, so making the recipes is sometimes too time consuming, but if I make a few recipes ahead of time, they last me all week. Have fun experimenting.

Wishing everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow and a great weekend! Take care!

Hi, Sunshine. Raw butter is butter made from milk that has not been pasteurized or homogenized. Whipped butter is also an excellent choice, as it is partly air, with less fat per teaspoon.

Hi, magg. SWG bread is available at health-oriented stores, including large chains such as Whole Foods Market and Trader Joes, as well as online, i.e. at http://www.foodforlife.com.
SWG flours are also available online, i.e. at http://www.organicsproutedflour.net/. A recipe is available here http://www.trimdownclub.com/recipe/homemade-sprouted-whole-grain-swg-bread/.

Hi, Sandrae. Yes, that is basically your pattern, though you an have a third protein at dinner, if you wish.

They sure hide it well, but finally found the “Ezechel” SWG bread in the freezer section at Safeway…………right next to the frozen pizzas. Boy was that a hard choice to make.

I’d like to address something else if I may. Did you all get an email this morning about a “Miracle Pill” pushed by a Dr. Siskind who gave a fantastic dissertation on the cause of accumulated fat around the middle and how this pill could assist in getting rid of it. I have issues with the email, the “medication” and TDC’s involvement. If anyone is interested in having a discussion about this. Follow up with me.
