CHIA
MemberJACKIEE: THANKS — YES, 21 🙂 We went to lunch on Thursday, my birthday and also on Friday. On Friday I had Key Lime cheesecake for dessert and not dessert on my birthday. I am trying to be good. Got a basket of yellow daisies and deep burgundy baby roses for my birthday. I told Bob not to get me anything because we are getting new flooring for 6 rooms so I am VERY HAPPY with that 🙂 I did have a SWG English muffin yesterday morning and today for lunch with a microwave scrambled egg on them. YUM!

MemberEvening to you all….it seems like ages since I have been up on deck for a natter…amazing how much life is on hold when the internet is down!!! It is a shame our lives are so immersed in cyberspace….I enjoy it, but it sure makes life come to a halt when it is not working!!! Hopefully they have sorted the problems out for us.
I am still struggling with the tiredness, but will continue to battle whatever I have to get back to some kind of normality!!! I haven’t stuck to the plan here, as I just haven’t got the energy to cope with thinking about it all! I am having a sleep-in again tomorrow…Yay…thanks to my husband.
KATIE…lentils are not something I have been fond of over the years, but since joining Trim Down, I have been having them most lunch times. I have my cup of rinsed unsalted brown lentils (from a can) with a cup of mixed rocket and baby spinach leaves (chopped a bit), a cup of chopped tomatoes/red capsicum/cucumber, my serve of either canned tuna or salmon, or chopped cold chicken. I toss all that together with a drizzle of three flavoured olive oils…chilli, garlic, and lemon….and sometimes I put some plain yogurt from my allowance in it. I also add seasonings like a flavoured vegetable salt, and meditteranean spices. I find it all a bit too filling, so I halve it and use it for another meal, either that day or next day. I like it…and it is nice an easy…Haha…I am not the domestic goddess you are love…I hate cooking, preparing food, and cleaning up!!! Lol. I really need to try some recipes though….if I could hire a cook I would!!!
PPEDDLE…All the best when those lay-offs come! I will be praying for you too. I too am amazed that men can lose weight so easily…my husband is slowly losing weight…doesn’t have to try to hard!!! Just sets his mind to it, does a little exercise and off it comes. He has lost it very quickly many times, but it just goes back on…so this time he has been watching his intake (very casually) for about 8 months. It just makes me sick!!! Lol….
Well, welcome to all the newbies….hope it all goes well for you. Love reading through the comments….hopefully I can get more motivated this week!

MemberI made the classic tuna salad and liked it. I was wondering if it could be frozen in serving sizes?

MemberI am new and cant seem to find anything about the calories and breakdown and serving size of any of the recipes. Neither does it tell me what my calories per day are. It doesn’t matter to me if it is healthy if I am eating too much of the wrong thing. Who knows these answers?
March 17, 2013 at 6:01 pm #10128LynnM
MemberHi Silly, The serving sizes of the recipes are on the online recipes you get to from the link in the line at the top of this page. Unfortunately they didn’t print them in our downloads.
The calories don’t matter in this way of eating, trust them, the menu generated for you is balanced and gives you the right combination of nutrients so you can lose weight safely and slowly. I have lost 12 lb since Jan 1 and that makes me very happy. You do have to increase your activity level as well, but I will let Ossie give you more information, she is the person who checks these threads.

Memberapensa…I bought a product from one of those ads sent by TDC, and I can’t really see that it is doing anything for me. However, what I am now doing, as they send me something almost every day, is just read their advice (most of which is good) and don’t go to the sells pitch part of the e-mail. lol It helps to reinforce what I am doing on TDC, but their program seems to be opposite of what we are doing here. Although, I am losing slowly. This program makes more sense to me, so I’m going to stick with it. What do you think?
Bev…I have enjoyed making the recipes, but I am now so busy, I have decided to make a new menu selection, and this next week should be much easier. I am also leaving for Hilton Head, SC on Thursday and will be gone for 10 days, so I will try to keep to this plan the best I can, but I know I will not be able to be as strict with it, as I have been. I’m not always good, however. I don’t want to give anyone that impression! lol I made St. Patrick Cupcakes for the young women in my church today. I coaxed even the teachers and some passer-bys to take some so I wouldn’t have them left over. I was successful at getting rid of all of them but one…yep, I did have a cupcake today! But I ate it with no guilt! My healthy dinner just said, I haven’t binged, I just took a minor detour…I’m back on track now1 lol Have you had your iron levels checked? I was anemic awhile back (a couple of years) they discovered that I had an ulcer. That took a long time to recover from and get built up again. You might want to check it out!
Smooth sailing for all of us! That’s my wish! Night!

MemberStgeofun: Thank you so very much for addressing my post. I’m glad that I am not the only one that is ignoring the “sales pitch”. I keep coming back to the issue that if this was some sort of medical break through and with as many people that there are dealing with Diabetic issues and that darned belly fat why oh why have not all our medical professionals prescribed, mentioned or even suggested this stuff or products having similar claims. I cannot bring myself to believe that medical professionals would actually opt to keep a person sick to keep them coming back. Maybe I am too naive. The real issue I have here and one that you very forgivingly mentioned is why is TDC sending us this stuff. I’d be willing to make book that they are going to get a kickback from the vendor. People here are really struggling and trying to do something good for themselves. I think unless they have proof positive TDC should just stick to dietary advice and assistance. If this stuff is so good, TDC should send us all a 30 day trial free of charge. If it works, I’ll be glad to pay for it and future supplies.
By the way, I can’t remember who it was that told us they walk first thing in the morning right out of bed, but a big thank you to them. I’ve been walking every day on the treadmill and increasing speed and time. Lost a little bit of weight but still have the “love handles”.

MemberAPENSA: I never had a chance to post yesterday, but I thought it strange too that a site that promotes eating healthy offers ads for pills and stuff. I admit that curiousity did bite me on one of the ads and I ordered a product to try (I’m almost shamed to admit that because I don’t believe in pills that suppress your appetite or burn the fat for you, but this one seemed different and after a few days the curiousity was still nagging at me). I figure I’ll try it and know…if it helps, great, if it doesn’t help then I won’t be wondering and tempted by future offers. I’m really glad to hear STGEOFUN tried something too. Otherwise, I find some of the ads have some good information and sometimes some decent recipes so overall I don’t mind getting them and just delete the ones that have nothing useful to me.
And I might be the one who inspired you for the treadmill…I have posted a couple times that I crawl out of bed in the mornings and go straight for the treadmill. In fact, we chatted a few weekends ago about it, and how we’re both “get everything ready the night before” people…lol. I’m glad you’re sticking with the treadmill too. Now you’re inspiring me to stick with it. 🙂 It’s a holiday for us today so I’m a little slow getting to it this morning and decided to have a coffee first and read the news, but as soon as I finish posting this I’m grabbing my Kobo and heading for the treadmill.

Memberppeddle: I thought it was you but was not sure. Anyway, thanks. Already did my walk this morning. Starting out at a lot faster pace than when I first took your advise. Hopefully I can increase the time too.
If anyone does try one of those “miracle pills”, I’d love to hear what the result was.
I watched a documentary on Netflix last night that was all about eating natural foods and juicing of fresh vegitables. I almost thought I was watching something from the TDC. There was no sponsor of the program. Anyway, if you subscribe to Netflix, you might want to look it up.

MemberWhoopee1 One week into the program and I have lost 3 pouds! Find I cannot eat that much food so that may have conributed a bit to the loss. I’m 83, lead a rather sedentary life because of back and leg problems so really don’t need that much food. I’ll keep right on it!

MemberOssie, a question for you. The stevia syrup is quite expensive so could I substitute the Agave syrup instead? It isn’t so costly.

MemberDoes anyone have a recipe for bran muffins that would fit into the TDC way of eating? The recipe my wife has contains bran and regular flour.

MemberHi Everyone,
Tonight I was pleasantly surprised once again with a recipe from TDC. I made the white bean lemon kale soup, that quite frankly, sounded awful to me. But I like it! lol The recipes are worth the price of this program! I’m cutting back this week though, I will not have much time for food preparation. I’m still in school, and I lead a book discussion class here at my house this week, and on Thursday, a friend and I are headed to Hilton Head, SC. So all of you better keep up the good work while I’m gone. I’m in week 7, and yep, 7 lbs. lighter. I just can’t break that cycle of one pound a week. I keep hoping someday the scales will surprise me! lol Have a great week, and I’ll check back in later.March 19, 2013 at 2:01 pm #10181roxxy38
MemberHi Ossie,
I just made bran muffins from Hodgson Mill. I hope this is a good item to eat. I also went on their website and have copied a recipe for Oat Bran Wheat Rolls. Can you tell me if this is a good recipe for Trim Down. Thanks!
Oat Bran Wheat Rolls
2 pkgs. HODGSON MILL FAST-RISE YEAST1/2 c warm water, 100-110 degrees F. 1 1/2 c skim milk, scalded 1 1/2 c HODGSON MILL OAT BRAN HOT CEREAL1 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 c sugar 3 Tbsp. butter 5 1/2 c HODGSON MILL 50/50 FLOUR 1 egg, beaten vegetable oil to coat a large bowl and several baking sheets
Add yeast to 1/2 cup warm water and let stand for 10 minutes. Combine milk, oat bran hot cereal, sugar, salt, and butter; cool to lukewarm. Stir in 2 cups 50/50 flour and mix well (you may use a mixer). To this, add beaten egg and yeast mixture and mix well. Add remaining 50/50 flour to make a soft dough. Put dough in oiled bowl, turning once to coat thoroughly. Cover with a damp towel and allow to rise in a warm, draft-free place until doubled, about 1 hour. Knead down and allow to rise for a second time for 1 hour.
Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Shape into a ball, cover and let rest 10 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Cut the ball into fourths, then cut each fourth into 6 wedges. Shape wedges in smooth little balls. Place balls of dough on prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart. Snip balls almost to center in 3 places to make cloverleaf rolls. Bake 15 to 20 minutes, until rolls are golden brown.
Makes 24 rolls. Each roll: 160 calories; 3 g dietary fiber; 6 g protein; 30 g carbohydrates; 3 g fat (less than 1 g saturated fat);9 mg cholesterol; 170 mg sodium.
