MemberAPENSA….I knew I had something to say to you…Yes mate, I too have been getting all those things about tea and the amazing things that will help us lose weight etc! Just a whole lot more junk in our system!!! I agree there are some good points made amongst it all, but I have never been one to look a second time at something (or someone for that matter) that is painted to be the answer to all my problems….maybe I should sometimes, but I can’t see the point in it. I am fine without all their gimmicks! We all are! Losing weight and feeling better has always been about eating right and getting the right amount of exercise! If people want to try these things and it works, well that is great. But not for me! If it is extreme, I don’t go there…..So many groups are taking advantage of cyberspace, trying to con us all into thinking they have the right product for us, and that we need their product to make us feel better, look better, and younger, etc….it’s is a money racket and I ain’t spending my cash on something that might turn out a lemon!!! Lol….I only hope if others have tried the stuff, it has worked!!! Cheers mate.

MemberHi, Apensa. Yes, NaCl is still NaCl. Some types claim to contain more minerals than others (i.e. Himalaya), but still the majority is NaCl.
Other than the sodium free herb blends suggested by Marcia below, there are salt substitutes such as Morton’s (all potassium instead of sodium, with some bitter aftertaste) or “light” type salts, which are half-and-half, or a mixture of other minerals important to cardiac health, such as Cardia.March 25, 2013 at 2:49 pm #10370luckyladyky

MemberGood news, LuckyLady!
Great to read all the progress that people are making, and that some are sticking with it even when nothing seems to be happening. That was my case, plateau for 3 weeks, then all of a sudden it seems today I have lost one inch everywhere (almost!) and feel lighter too, must be more muscle there! I’m down a total of 13lb since Jan 1!!

MemberHi, LuckyLady. Glad to read things are going well. We don’t like to think anyone is depriving themselves when the options might benefit from an upgrade
Try this recipe here http://www.trimdownclub.com/recipe/rhubarb-strawberry-tart/, but substitute cherries for the strawberry+rhubarb (fresh, frozen, or jarred in juice, not heavy syrup). Once you bake it, divide it into individual slices and freeze them; then just thaw each one for, say, an evening snack (dessert for your dinner) instead of what’s usually on your menu. Please do remember to find ways to enjoy yourself – this isn’t a diet, it’s (hopefully) your new healthy lifestyle 🙂March 25, 2013 at 3:47 pm #10376apensa
MemberOssie: So the bottom line is control the amount of salt intake but it really does not matter which type of salt you choose unless you are talking to a gormet’ cook.
Seaborne: Good way to put it. I just feel a little disappointed that Trim Down is getting involved in this, but like you say, if it works, I guess no harm is done.

MemberOSSIE: I’m confused about salt. IS IT BEST TO USE SEA SALT FOR EVERYTHING, including baking and all cooking? I know Sea Salt has lots of good things in it, but what do we do for IODINE? Our bodies need Idodine, don’t they? Also, It seems to me that sea salt is stronger tasting than regular table salt – Mortons. Is that correct or not? Should we use less sea salt than regular table salt?

MemberA question from this newbie: I have gone online to check out substitutions for various things to make it easier for me.
Doesn’t this seem like a lot of food? I’m used to 1000/calories/
day and it seems like I’m eating a lot BUT I am down a couple of
pounds.March 25, 2013 at 5:56 pm #10382CHIA
MemberOSSIE: Do you have any recipes for delicious desserts for Easter dinner this Sunday? I’ve been seeing cheese cakes coming through my e-mail and they look so good and refreshing, but I know they are full of fat. Is there anything sugar and carb free?

MemberHi, Chia. Yes, we will be coming out with an Easter recipe collection. If you want a cheesecake more in line with your health goals, try our spring-themed recipe http://www.trimdownclub.com/recipe/strawberry-swirl-cheesecake/.
As for salts, if you are not allergic to iodine and don’t eat a lot of seafood or vegetables grown in areas exposed to seawater, iodized salt is indeed recommended. “Sea salt” does not have any tangible advantage over that. If you choose a salt substitute or “light” salt, be sure to check for iodine there, too (usually as potassium iodide).March 26, 2013 at 10:13 am #10400Ossie-Sharon
MemberHi, ebenner, and welcome. Is there a medical reason you have been following a 1000-calorie diet? If not, this amount is much, much, much too low for an adult, and is generally promoted as a short-term type of diet. The Trim Down Club program is intended to be a lifelong healthy way of eating, which is why you see more food than you are used to. I am glad to read that you are losing, and assure you that your chances of being healthier and happier are much higher this way.

MemberHi everyone. I’ve been off the diet for a couple of weeks, partly work pressures, partly invites out for meals. I was a wee bit naughty and expected to have put on weight but amazingly have lost a bit. I’m making very small progress compared to many of you but it is going down.
