MemberWelcome, PennyJ. Since Ossie mentioned the wonderful gals and GUYS here, I naturally had to say something. yep, you’re never alone here. Seaborn Girl is my shot of stability. Peddles is my gym teacher…yep, peddles, still hitting the treadmill every morning. Ossie is our Home Room teacher and helps us stay “In The Know”. Penny, you’ve stumbled on to a great set of “e-friends”. I don’t have room to mention everyone.
How about a horror story of having to attend a social meeting for dinner……at a place that serves an all you can eat salad bar and …..you guessed it…..PIZZA!!! I was actually pretty good. One bowl of Tomato Basil Soup….probably loaded with Sodium. A “small” salad…..with everything on it including Blue Cheese Dressing and ONLY two pieces of Pizza………..Looks like an orange and my first round of Steroid Pills for breakfast.

MemberEvening all you lot….I have had such a busy day! Went to town with my daughter and 7 year old grandson and 5 year old grandaughter. Came lunch time, and we were heading to the Coffee Club where I could get a healthy caeser salad with salmon and a yummy runny poached egg! Then the kids decided they were really set on Indian Curry instead of chips and salad! We gave in and I had to have a beautiful Madras Chicken Curry! Never mind…I have the salad every other day!!! We got home at around 5, so the lovely dinner I was going to make flew out the door! Lol.
OLIVEOYL….you have got a lot of feedback…you sure got the kettle boiling girl! It is good for us. I hope the things that have been said to you have been helpful. I don’t know if it is brave of me to pick myself up and keep going after a fall…it is just something I do to survive in this life! I love life, and people, and want to enjoy it! As I am getting older and wiser and slower and fatter and achier, I am not enjoying life as much as the perky lady inside wants to!!! So I have to get up and go again, or I am going to miss out on so much, and so will my family miss out on having fun with me!!! I understood that you meant that you were hoping for someone like Ossie to help and not one of us. It is fine. One thing PPEDDLE said to you that I realise may have come from what I said about “not voicing your negativity”…I certainly don’t mean on here, you can say what you feel here…as PPEDDlE said, she has had the same thoughts, and others have said what they think about how they feel. I was referring to your every day life…I believe that we need to be aware of the “lies” we tell ourselves, as they are the things that feed our negative feelings, and keep us “down”! There is a story many of you might have heard before, that I often think of…an American Indian Elder apparently made this comparison to a friend he was talking to…..
“Inside of me there are two dogs.
The black dog is mean and tries to talk me into making the wrong choices.
The white dog is good and encourages me to make the right choices.
The black dog fights the white dog all day”.When asked by the friend ‘WHICH DOG WINS?’, the elder reflected for a moment and replied;
“THE ONE I FEED THE MOST!”What do we allow to influence our thinking? What do we tell ourselves? That is what determines our behaviour, so we need to learn the truth about ourselves, and practice telling ourselves the truth. It is a very tough battle, but we all need to do it if we want to stay “up”…regardless of what area of our lives we are dealing with.
PPEDDLE…I love what you have said….it really encouraged me…thanks! It is so good to share this journey with so many open, down-to-earth people.
APENSA….what a flirt!!! I am so glad you corrected yourself regarding all the beautiful ladies on here!!! Lol…and I am amazed that you said I was your stablity on here…lol…that is funny! It is nice to know that I am of some help to someone Apensa….thanks mate. Pleased to hear your doctor is doing something for your taste buds too. Hope the food starts to get some flavour soon!!!
Got to go…nearly my time for bed!!! 10.30….night all! Happy sailing…Bev.

MemberHi, Bernie53. The most popular way to get over a plateau is to swap out types of exercise for a new one to work new muscles – or add the new exercise, or increase the duration and/or frequency of the exercise you are doing.
It is also an opportunity to assess your eating to make sure there aren’t growing “sneaks” that are adding up (sneaks are OK, having them increase limitlessly and take on lives of their own is not helpful). Make sure your portions sizes are still what you think they are. If you find the need to deviate from your program too much, it’s time to replan (hopefully that’s not you’re case).April 11, 2013 at 3:03 pm #10872CHIA
MemberOLIVEOYL: I’m glad you decided to stay with us. It’s nice to have so many different interesting ideas and thoughts to help keep us going. If you weren’t with us — see what you would be missing 🙂 And I appreciate so much the wisdom of OSSIE! Couldn’t do it without her. So, Oliveoyl, stay tuned in and keep sharing. Have great day!

MemberI enjoyed reading everyones comments. The last couple of weeks have been a challenge for me, traveling for 10 days, and having family visit for 6. But I think I’m ready to settle down again and stick to the program a little better. I made pretty good choices of food during this time, but occasionally I went off the wagon with cookies and snacks that my grandkids insisted on having! lol I put two of the seven pounds back on, but I also have slowed down on my water intake, so I think some of it could be water retention.
Good luck to everyone!April 11, 2013 at 6:13 pm #10883apensa
MemberStage……visiting grandkids is a GREAT excuse for going off the wagon!!! LOL

ONE DAY AT A TIME…..April 11, 2013 at 10:43 pm #10889Norunyan
MemberHi everyone,New and not new.I have been reading all the posts. This program has all of us paying attention to others as well as ourself. It makes me see how hard we are on ourself. It gives me motivation most days.I do not know how long it will take to lose the 40 lbs. I need to but with everyone talking about their progress or slowness makes me feel like We will all make it in the end..I do know taste seems to change as you change to eating better.
Starting to storm so I need to go.Good luck everyone.April 11, 2013 at 11:30 pm #10890stgeofun
MemberJackie…good to see you again, and thanks apensa for the grand children remark. I watched a documentary the other day about 2 young men who were going blind, and they asked the question, “If you were going blind, what would be the last thing you’d want to see?” My immediate reply was my grand children! 🙂 Yes, they are worth the couple of extra pounds. lol
I hopped on here to share one of my favorite recipes for those who are looking for a different take on fresh fruit.
Cut up an apple in bite size pieces, then a banana, a pear, and add some raisins and sliced almonds. Sprinkle with less than a teaspoon of stevia syrup and mix. I put about a half cup of the mixed fruit in a cute little dessert dish and enjoy! Save the rest for another time. Hope you like it!
I’m feeling motivated today, hope the same for the rest of you!
Good Luck!April 11, 2013 at 11:48 pm #10891apensa
MemberNow you have me……I keep thinking about what would be the last thing I want to see…………….but i’m a guy….LOL

MemberEvening all, good to see you on board cindy, thanks for the tip on migraines will mention that when I have my neurologist appointment. I’m trying to find out why I’ve been suffering headaches for a few years now.
Well I never managed skipping today as talked myself into dog walking indefinitely!!! wasn’t expecting that today but when I dropped of Angelina on the bus I heard a Italian woman shouting…not sure what, as it was in dialect but couldn’t help asking if she was ok..she was in despair ranting about people feeding this wee dog who is sort of abandoned, well not exactly abandoned as the old lady died and he hubby was in long stay hospital care but he has now been taken home to his nephew house (over an hour away) so the little dog has been left tided up at the side of the house….everyone seems to be feeding it all sorts, the lady was in despair because the dog is over eating and no-one is helping to sort it out and she can’t as he hubby is starting chemo today!!!. After working out what she was shouting and crying about I offered to take the dog for a walk and told her not to worry any more. When I come back the lady had put a notice up saying don’t feed the dog anymore and if they want to help walk it, I’m now in charge of feeding the dog and will be walking it every day (2-3times) so yip I’m back walking again, well walking and running, only now I haven’t any excuse to put it off, since a wee dog is relying on me…Oh I’m also the talk of the village as the lady has written I will feed it and if people want to help, they can help with food by leaving money in the wee village shop towards dog food. Everyone is saying no one will give money blah blah and talking and talking about the poor dog and how good I am….arghhh I am only trying to help not cause another debate, that will last for weeks on end, knowing the locals. But I’ll leave them to it, as I did tried to explain to so many of them today when they approached me…, me and the dog are helping each other really. So fingers crossed all the extra walking and running will help me lose more weight.
Have a great weekend everyone.April 12, 2013 at 11:02 pm #10909OliveOyl
MemberThanks for trying to help. I tried eating more protein early in the day but I can’t get a handle on the night binging. I’m giving up
