I tried the strawberry, rhubarb tart but the crust was a disaster! Chilled, it cracked trying to get It into the pan; room temperature was worse so I just patted it into the pan. Now, when I slice it, the crust is like a powder or shortbread. Anyone have better luck?

Welcome, Suzy and Lisa. Lisa, you wore me out just reading your exercise routine. My hat is off to you. Suzy, I know what you mean about the wine. My suggestion is to switch to Vodka. If you stick to that, pretty soon you won’t care……LOL. Seriously, I used to enjoy a drink or two of Vodka at night, so I understand what you are saying. It does make a difference though. I know it is not the same, but have you considered the non alcoholic wine. At least you won’t have the alcohol to turn into sugar. If you can do that, I guaranty you will really appreciate that occasional glass of wine you do allow yourself.

Hey, I’m no authority, so Ossie will have to chime in on this.

Lucky…..rhubarb….wow….that takes me back to my childhood. There is a place in Southern California, USA called Knott’s Berry Farm. They served the best rhubarb pie!!! Were you able to at least enjoy the rhubarb filling?

Hello Everyone, Life is good I have been very busy and have not had a chance to write to everyone. My latest recipe try was the spanish rice. I don’t what went wrong but the rice was not right with no texture what so ever. All those great peppers and all will have do make this recipe differently next time. One recipe also with the egg whites and almonds didn’t like these either. To date the pumpkin still my favorite. I am so happy to be on this program eating the right foods, its a good thing. I have been keeping busy spring is here at long last and planting will begin as well. I can’t wait to put in my garden as well all those veggies yum plus walking weather. I am sorry I have not written but read everything. Life is good folks I am down 5 lbs and I can see different in my thighs and belly, thinking I am doing something right. I like knowing I am eating healthy I sleep better my thinking is better and don’t miss all that sweet stuff I use to snack on all the time. I love fruits and dig into those if need be. My physical comes up soon and I hope my cholestrol is better than the last time. I just don’t want to have to take pills for it. So time will tell. Thank you all for sharing your thoughts and recipes and ossie for being there for us. All the best to all until the next time I have a moment to write.

Hi, Apensa. Yes, wine is easier on the system, especially if it is alcohol-free. Not everyone likes the taste, so a smaller amount (say, half a glass) can be a compromise.

Hi, Suzy1954. Try gradually cutting back on the wine so you don’t feel the amount shrinking, but eventually you get to only a few ounces a glass, and not more than one glass per day..

Ossie…..gee….that seems so sacreligious (sp)……a half a glass of wine?…..and non alcololic to boot? Well, I’m glad you at least went along with my response. Say…..when you go out on a date or your husband/date wants to take you out to dinner…..what do you eat….where do you go?

Suzy hear again, thanks so much for tip Apensa .The only thing is I don’t like the hard stuff anymore. I might just have to switch to non alcoholic wine. It is the hardest thing for me to do. I love my white wine, In the summer I will really miss it too. I really want to lose the weight ,so for that to happen I have to stop drinking wine..

Yes, Suzy, laying off the booze does make a big difference. I have friends that can have two or three martinis every night….after 5:00PM of course….and are as thin as a rail. I guess it all has to do with your metabolism. When I was a young man, I could have several drinks and then find an activity to burn it all off…..wink! Youth is definitely wasted on the young and old age is not for the weak.

Hi, apensa. I see I skipped your “date” question. The cutting back is a GRADUAL process. In my own experience, with today’s prices for restaurant wine, we let greed take over, and enjoy splitting the glass of wine. The extra cash is just as delicious.

And I bet that makes you a great date…….well, that might be part of the reason you would be a great date.LOL I too would rather have the cash…..maybe for dessert….LOL. Bill O’Reilly has great advice for going out to dinner. Drink waster and skip dessert.

OSSIE: STILL WAITING FOR AN ANSWER FROM YOU PERSONALLY. What do you mean non-cooking needs? What would you use the solid coconut oil for (I’d like to use it up), and what would you use the olive oil for? Please be more specific in what kinds of foods and how to prepare the foods. Thank you!

Are you supposed to eat everything on the daily menu? Seems like too much food/calories. I can see mused gaining weight. Not losing!
