horselover….the pancake recipe is one TDC’s, it’s called coco banana pancakes. I really like them, they are like eating banana bread! lol I do prefer oat flour to rice flour, which Ossie says is ok. I usually have strawberries on top, I prefer that to syrup, however, today I did use a sugar free syrup that has xylotol as the sweetner. I have not been able to find a syrup sweetened with stevia, which is a better choice. I think I could probably order it online, but have not tried. I think stevia is pretty sweet, so I usually cut the amount when using it, however, in this recipe, I use the full amount. Try them, I hope you enjoy them!

Jackie…what part of Italy do you live? I have been to that country four times and love it and the people! My favorite place in the whole world, so far, is Positanno, but I loved Asissi in Tuscany too. This is such a great time of year to be in Italy. Enjoy your good weather, wish I was there!

I have really been converted to this program. I get a little tired of vegetable salads but if I take the effort to make the recipes, it keeps it more interesting and the variety keeps me on the program. I was with the youth of our church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until 9:00 PM, and of course, our meals were not TDC approved! lol And although I ate some forbidden foods, what was interesting was that they didn’t even taste as good as I had remembered them. I use to love donuts and cookies, and they just simply did not taste very good. I’m really liking the whole grains and fresh foods. I took a few Cuties (small oranges that have a wonderful taste and are juicy) and some almonds for my in between meals snacks, and I thought they were much better than the junk foods!

I have a niece who eats really healthy, however, she still uses small amounts of sugar and wheat products, but at our last family gathering I was observing her kids, and their choices at the buffet were the cucumbers and other veggies! I think this is the answer to the obesitly problem that is taking over America. Raise the kids on healthy foods so that they naturally choose them over the junk foods!

Anyway, glad to see that all of you are doing well and following this program. I enjoy hearing about your success stories, it helps me keep motivated.

Apensa, I still think you should try Ezekiel Bread again, and toast it this time. I really like the crunchy tecture. Today I made a little tuna fish sandwich on it, and thought it was delicious. But then maybe that’s just me. I do like it in recipes that call for bread crumbs too, like the green bean recipe they have on here! And of course, my favorite still is the soft goat cheese, but a little peanut butter on it is really good too.

I think I need to get back to following the portion sizes a little better than I’ve been doing, because I have noticed that I am not sleeping as well, again. it is now 3;30 AM while I am writing this! lol I haven’t been eating as much, and I think I wake up a little bit hungry. I’m going to try following the program a little more closely this week. I have some of the pressures off of me that have kind of distracted me this past couple of weeks, So wish me luck! And good luck to all of you too. Let’s keep each other encouraged!

    Bye for now!

    Hey,
Just got back from the gyn and decided to take my measurements today. It has been two months since I took them last and I am happy to report that I have lost 4 1/2 pounds. One of those was on my waist and two more were my middrif, so I am very pleased. It’s funny though, I suspected to lose it in my hips because my slacks are fitting me so much better, but I’m still the same there. I still am very pleased though! Keep working at this, it is working!

Just tried another recipe…Greens & Beans Enchilladas. I substituted SWG wraps for brown rice tortillias and my neighbor gave me a huge bag of Swiss chard, so I used that instead of collard greens, but it turned out pretty good. It’s the first corn that I’ve eaten since joining in January. I have to admit, it tasted pretty good. Recipes are really time consuming, but when you have a little extra time, I suggest you make some of these recipes. It makes so much you can freeze them and then won’t have to go through all the work again.

I finally figured out how to prepare my SWG muffins. When I just toasted them from frozen they were so uncooked tasting, but I have put them in the fridge, and toasted one split tonight, twice, and it was nice and crunchy and tasty, so that’ a good discovery!

Sounds like a good meal, stgeofun, I like swiss chard too.

Doing battle with eating out the last couple of days. Trying to be sensible, Saturday it was Veal Osso Bucco, asparagus and potato Cheese soup….could not resist that. Drank water and had not dessert……………………….until we got home……..Strawberry Shortcake from fresh berries, Cool Whip and store bought Angel Food Cake. Tonight it was a meeting with old friends from the neighborhood that have moved away. Had a Southwest Chicken wrap, and cold slaw. Watter to drink and the same dessert at home………….it’s all gone now…..LOL How much trouble can I get into eating like this. At least it beats the appetizers, backed potato with sour cream, butter and chives and a nice piece of pecan pie. …LOL…..Oh, don’t forget a bottle of wine with dinner and a couple of drinks before dinner……………..GOD THAT SOUNDS SOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!!!

What would some of you do if faced with this dilemma.

Hi, Apensa. If you like the food that much, you’ll like it again. I would recommend to eat part (a little less each time), and take the rest home for leftovers – these items reheat very well the next day. If it is too difficult to see the rest of it on your plate at this stage of the program, then ask the waiter to wrap up some in advance. When you get home, freeze it, so it isn’t easy to randomly nibble on.
Speaking of asking waiters for help, you can also ask them to cut back a little on the sour cream, etc. before serving you.
Angel food cake is a good move because it is more protein than fat. Again, each time, just eat or drink a little less than you did before, and of course, keep in mind that the event is to be with the people, not just the food.
Another option, though this can feel a little mean, is to let your friends know about your efforts to get healthy – if you can’t convince them (at least not right away) to join you, at least they might look out for you.

    Thank you Ossie,

Already doing things like that. Sometimes the wife and I actually share a plate. I never “stuff” myself any more. I’m starting to enjoy, like you say, the company or even and not just the food. I savor what I do eat and leave another portion for a future time.

Thanks for taking the time to write.

    jcdkemp,
Is it a time factor for not working out or injury?

    Hi everyone!

I read all the comments made by all of you during my Holidays in Florida. One thing that comes up very often is “how difficult it is to find ingredients and how time consuming it is to cook or prepare some of the recipes”

If you go back to my previous comments I gave you many soup recipes with simple ingredients that can be found easily.

Today I would like to suggest a simple favourite breakfast of mine. I use Wildroots high fiber multi-grain cereal made with Freeze-dried fruits. Its made in the USA and is available at Costco in Canada and Wall Mart in the USA according to their website.

If you don’t have time to make breakfast or don’t know what to eat then take a cup of this cereal, mixed with a small banana sliced in small pieces and half a cup of 1% milk and it will take you back to childhood. I remember when we sat around the table at breakfast trying to read the promos on cereal boxes. It tastes real good. Also you can complete your breakfast with ½ ounce (approximately 14 almonds) which you can eat separately or crush them and incorporate with your cereals. Its also delicious combined with low fat yogurt.

My second comment today relates to grass fed meat. Like most of you I find these ingredients to be either hard to find or simply too expensive for my budget. If you are on a fixed budget, don’t feel bad or ashamed to eat regular chicken, turkey, beef or whatever you fancy.

I will end my comment with a sad event which happened in our backyard yesterday morning. About ten years ago my wife and I arrived home after work and we found a couple of Mallard ducks wading in our above-ground pool. Since then every year this couple would come to visit us and stay in our pool for about a week before going North.

Again this year our Mallard couple showed up last week. As usual they would spend the night in our pool. Early morning yesterday I went in the yard to turn the water on (we are on a well so we only use a trickle of water to fill the pool) and everything seemed normal. While my wife was preparing to leave for work, I went to check the pool again and found the female Mallard lying on the ground near a large Elm tree, with her neck broken.

It broke my heart. I thought I was responsible for startling her when I came out of the house. However, my wife says she heard a loud noise outside while I was still in the house. Notwithstanding, I was crying like a baby, put some gloves on and took a shovel to bring our friend to her final resting place. We will miss her.

At 6:00 PM her mate showed up, he stood on the side of the above-ground pool calling his mate. He stayed in the pool all night. Early this morning, he was still sitting on the side. He flew away when I got out to turn the water on. A few moments latter I heard a flock of Canadian geese flying over. I hope he joined the flock. Also, I hope it will show up again next year.

Hi Everyone, I am still very much a newbie, I started out really well, experienced about a 6 lb lost. Then I suddenly have to deal with the unexpected death of my baby brother. I’ve been away from my home and my husband for almost a month. When I first arrived at my mother’s the first thing I did was stop and purchased a lot of food that I was now eating. People were bringing so much food, and between the grief I was feeling and the business of funeral arrangements, the convenience of food being brought in was, well, convenient. I was beginning to stress over it and had to have a long talk with myself. I gave myself permission to eat the best I can now and when I return home, I can resume the program that was working so well for me. Thanks for listening.

Hi Folks, hope this finds you all well,

LULABELLE, my deepest sympathies to you and your family at this sad time, I will keep you in my prayers. Don’t worry to much about sticking to the program, we’re all be here when your ready to get back in full swing of it, just stay strong and take one day at a time. This is a healthy eating plan not a diet, making the changes slowly will help incorporate the changes for life.

Radisson, thanks for the tips, sadly I don’t have that cereal choice here but I do have porridge which I love, with crushed nuts ( yip I know this might trigger a wee comment from you Apensa 🙂 ). I am also starting to love grilled tomatoes for breakfast now. I’m sorry to hear you had a sad event today, such a shame but fingers crossed the male duck will returned next year with a new mate, to keep up the spring visit in your pool.

KATIE, I live in Santarcangelo very near the sea side resort of Rimini, the best of both worlds as the town is a very historic and picturesque and the beach is near by for those sizzling hot summer months. I haven’t been to Tuscany but, I can imagine it is a lovely as here. Thanks letting us all know how the recipes turn out, it really helps, when make recipe chooses.

APENSA, I think its great that you are always conscious about what you eat even with your visitors here, well done.

well done LYNN with the weight loss. I’m still yo-yoing but got my thyroid results back and need my meds adjusted so hopefully that will help kick start the downward scale again.

Well that 3 days I’ve been bad, not by over eating but under eating. I don’t know how I’ve managed it but I have missed lunches and snacks just by keeping on top of day to day stuff, however I do realise this irregular eating and skipping meals is the prime reason to why I’ve been so cranky and bad tempered the last few days. I’m going to make sure I stick with the regular eating from tomorrow as have promised my wee girl… I will be a happy mummy tomorrow for sure!!! take care all, till the next time

Lulabelle…. My heart goes out to you. I’m so sorry. I know what you mean when unexpected things come between you and your regimen. Just hang in there. I’m sort of going through the same thing. I just found out that my best friend/best man/high school buddy has been diagnosed with a form of Leukemia. It is like I am functioning under a dark cloud every minute of the day.

Some place it says, “This too will pass.”
