Ossie-SharonMemberHi, blue207. A cup is 240 ml, and often 240 g (though not always – flours are about 100-120 g, fruits and vegetables 150 g).

WhiskerMemberHi blue207! Welcome!
Re “cup” measurements, you can buy a set of standardized cup measures i.e 1 cup, 1/2 cup, 1/3 cup and 1/4 cup. I have a set in stainless steel. I use them all the time. They make measuring very easy. You can buy these fairly cheaply in good Home Stores, if you shop around.
About me – I am in my third week in Trim Down Club, and doing very well. So far I have lost 10 lbs plus. Not bad!
Best of luck achieving your goals, blue207!

blue207MemberHi Whisker,
Well done on your weight loss. Very encouraging!! At the moment I am having trouble eating everything that I have to eat in the time that I have available. Can’t imagine doing anything but putting on weight.
Managed to get measuring cups today so thanks for that.

blue207MemberCanadian bacon? Not sure that this is something we have in UK. Could I use ordinary ‘Danish’ bacon with the fat removed?

KatiekatMemberI have just joined today and would like to start the 14 day quick start diet in a few days. However, I am not going out to buy 6 or 7 kinds of grains and 1/2 ounce of different kinds of nuts etc. Can I make substitutions? If so how do I determine what I can substitute for what?

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, KatieKat. The 14-day plan was indeed intended to show a variety of options. Just choose the ones you like and swap them in for the other days. For example, if you like brown rice, eat that a few times per week instead of worrying about also getting quinoa; if you like almonds, let those be your nuts instead of all the others etc. Same for the meats, fruits and vegetables. Just use it as a guide and the foods as placeholders for that particular food group – just pay attention to the portion sizes, and you’ll be fine.

KatiekatMemberDo I have to eat the fats with the meals that are suggested? I got a weekly menu that includes meals like 3 cups popcorn, 1 egg, 1 guava and 1teaspoon olive oil. I don’t know about you but I am not putting olive oil on popcorn, an egg or a guava. Also is popcorn considered a veggie or a starch. The weekly menu has it as a snack 6 days out of 7 and I don’t like popcorn quite that much.

KatiekatMemberOssie-Sharon, I have eaten healthfully for years. I eat no processed foods. I am gluten free, organic etc. It is easy in the town I live in. Almost every restaurant offers vegan, gluten free and organic choices. I make everything that goes in my mouth or my dogs mouth at home. I like the way that your diet spreads the nutrition out over the day. Is there a place that tells us how much protein, fruit, veggie and carbs should be included at the different times of day? I have a little trouble eating nuts as they physically irritate my stomach with the roughness of them so I need to swap them out a little.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, KatieKat. You have the option to swap foods out in the same foodgroups – click on the circular arrow icon next to the item, and choose something from pop-up list. You can do this both for the oil and the popcorn.
Popcorn is considered a starch, while regular corn is a starchy vegetable.August 8, 2013 at 6:36 pm #13912
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, KatieKat. Great to read that you are so on top of things!
If you click on “View Menu Exchanges” to the right of your menu, you will see the framework of your menu pattern. The exchanges are here http://www.trimdownclub.com/exchanges-lists/ (similar to those used by the American Diabetes Association).August 8, 2013 at 6:44 pm #13914
jules41MemberI have just completed my 1st week of measuring, chopping, drinking lots of water, & eating more vegies than I can believe and yet I have only lost 1#!! Really a bummer. It seems like I’m eating all day long. I might expect a plateau later on in this program but not the 1st week. 🙁

pad41260MemberToday I downloaded the program so I plan start tomorrow. Not sure if this is any different than other plans I have seen. Anyway. I have been gaining weight for several months and have finally stopped gain so now maybe my efforts on weight loss will begin to work. Currently I have no friends on here, no support, and I am completely loss at this point. I have my Quick Start to read over tonight and I did my menu planner and now I have lost it. It is going to take a few days for this old goat to get used to ths site. any suggetions and point me in the right direction to make friends and get support and support others. Lets do this thing.
