ginnerlouMemberThanks Ossie. May just stick to the squash and add the spices that you would use for pumpkin. Just love these. My new best recipe.

ginnerlouMemberAndreehanson, check out your menu section to make up a week’s menu. Lots of good foods to choose from. I use SWG (sprouted whole grain) bread and its Eziekel bread found in the freezer section. I shop Whole Foods for most of my products. Watch out for processed foods-high in sodium and other not friendly stuff. Ossie will get back with you to help you with your needs. This is just what I do. I’ve been doing this since the first of the year and I love the way I eat now. Hang in there and it will become easier for you as you get use to the menus.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Andreehanson. Not to worry. Because of the nature of this program (lifestyle change vs. restrictive), sometimes it takes the body a little while to get used to it before losing weight. Most often this is a result of previous restrictive diets, which can slow down your metabolism. Are you physically active? You can give your metabolism a kick-start by swapping out an exercise to work a different set of muscles than usual.
Another point I would make is that it is probably wort your while to consider not using processed foods, such as frozen prepared meals, on a regular basis. One of the principles of this program is unprocessed foods – this is one of the features that can make a significant difference in weight loss efforts.
If you continue to feel like your body is not changing (not just by the scale, but also how you look and feel, how your clothes fit, etc.), I would be happy to compare the menu you posted to your nutritional needs – I just need your height, weight, age, estimation of your physical activity level, and a sample day from your menu (copy and paste here), as well as an estimation of how closely you follow it.September 2, 2013 at 9:55 pm #14608
jackieeMemberHi all hope you all doing well.
I had to laugh when I read your message Katie, you seem to mirror what I’ve done during the summer so won’t repeat your post. I’ve now been back on track for a few weeks but my weight seems be to increasing slowly so going to get my thyroid levels checked out again just incase. Although I also not back exercising yet so that could also be a fact. Glad to hear your getting on the treadmill again Apensa and out for walks, so pleased your knees are giving you less jip. Thanks for the link Radisson, I may not be at the over 55 years yet but some interesting reading on the link. Good luck to everyone new to this, stick at, it gives you more energy and most people have great weight loss. I’m off to generate an new menu planner and get that butternut recipe Ginnerlou as you make it sound worth the trying. Good luck everyone.

koree0988MemberI could not find Dried Tomatoe Spread, can anyone give me an idea of where I might look in a grocery store? With sauces, other spreads like mayonaise, dressings???? I looked in all these places. Just wondering if my store carries it. They do not carry Brown Rice Pasta.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, MaryShuck, and welcome. Trimmings for foods are usually extra, unless they don’t have a significant amount of carbohydrates, fats, or proteins. Typical waffle and pancake toppings are generally worth the following: 1 tablespoon of syrup or jam/jelly is one carbohydrate exchange (equal to a slice of bread), and 1 teaspoon of butter is a fat exchange (like an oil). You can pick these out of the rest of your day gradually; for example, the carbohydrate exchange can be made up for by slightly reducing the portions of starches at the rest of the meals, a tablespoon of rice or potato here, a cracker there, etc.

briankelliejMemberHi, I’m just brand new and really excited to be doing this. I have just sorted out my menu for the week and I see that there is a lot of “Organic” this and “grass-fed” that. Being on a budget I can’t afford to buy this all the time. I realize that these are the best for you but is normal foods and meats ok

apensaMemberThanks, Ossie. Appreciate the information.

jackieeMemberHi all hope your all well. I Know this isn’t a question but just want to share as feel down. I found out today my thyroid levels are out so have had my meds adjusted again. This made me happy since I haven’t been losing and had started to gain weight again, anyway felt positive and took my healthy picnic to the local park with my daughter. Then I went for a coffee when she played in the park. Got speaking to another mum I know, we talked about our kids ect I said Angelina’s talking better now so I get a good chat now. A man then sat beside the other mum and said to her ‘she should go to the gym and chat’. How rude….and to be honest I know I shouldn’t let it get to me… but it has and I have felt sad and quite depressed all day now……fingers crossed this time next year I won’t have this problem

Meagan LeeMemberFor those that read the article below that one of our members posted:
Hi everyone:
I found another interesting site of particular interest for people over 55. This one is about interval training but the site covers just about any other subjects for seniors.
http://elderlyseniorsolutions.blogspot.ca/2010/03/interval-training-for-seniors.html
—————–
Interval training is very effective but if you are not used to training at high intensities than my suggestion would be to start out slowly with intervals of 2-3 minute moderate pace and 1 minute higher paced. This will keep your heart rate up and allow you to slowly transition into shorter more intense intervals. If yall have any questions please let me know!September 8, 2013 at 2:35 am #14773
CHIAMemberJACKIEE — Don’t let that man’s words bother you. He was very rude and nasty. His words come from the devil. Don’t pay attention to any words from the devil’s mouth. Only be concerned with God’s words, which are always loving. Just kick the thought of that man out of your life! Go on with your life and NEVER let negative words make you depressed. Depression is from Satan!!!

apensaMemberChia, good advice for Jackiee.
Jackiee……..He was Italian, right? I rest my case. If he was speaking in English, there may be the possibility that he meant something other than the way it came out. I was raised in an Italian immigrant family and many times my mom and dad would speak to me in English but what they were trying to say, just did not come out right. Regardless, let it go by you like a passing breeze and stay focused on doing what you can and enjoying your family.

jackieeMemberThanks for the support Chia and Apensa. Luckily it didn’t get to me for long…yip he was Italian and speaking Italian (yeah I should know by now). Although the other mum did get on at him when I was walking away so that’s something. Today I had a happy day with my hubby and daughter down the beach after church, more importantly we all had a healthy picnic and the I had great satisfaction knowing that I didn’t binge eat last night when I felt low 🙂 that a first for me. Sorry for letting of steam last night but when it comes to my weight I don’t like sharing these things with my hubby and friends here, because they think I should just laugh it off and I know I should, it just not that easy every single time. Right I’ll shut up now and go generate a new menu, happy healthy eating all. (thanks again for the words of support they mean a lot to me). Hope you all have a great healthy week.
