carlajohnsonMemberHow do I change the serving size on the shopping list? It only comes up with 2 serving option and want to change to 1.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Carla. When you make a shopping list, you have the option to include recipes. When you do this, you have the ability to set the serving size for the recipes. In some cases, recipes don’t always serve 1.

MufficoxMemberI’m new and somewhat confused with things on the site. If I want to use a recipe do I just eat it instead of what is in my menu planner for that meal? Is the main goal of this to eat the correct portions and combinations of food for weight loss and better health?

apensaMemberI think you’ve got it Muff!

MufficoxMemberI’m also new to this just today and need lots of help! Are there certain amounts of carbs, protein, fat, etc I need each day? If I’ve done the menu planner and the reading at the top says 86 health, is that a good menu to follow, giving me all that I need? I’ve lost weight many times over the years but just gain it back. I’m hoping that this will be the answer to help me learn to eat better, lose weight and curb my sweet cravings.

SupportKeymasterYes, it is best to follow the Menu Planner as it combines the perfect amount of carbs, proteins, and fats that support long-term weight loss.

madamsnyMemberI started this plan a week ago, and while I am loosing weight very slowly…like .2-.4#, I am having problems keeping my blood sugar down with all the fruit it requires. I am a type 2 diabetic, and I am also hypothyroid on medication. Any suggestions?
March 7, 2016 at 5:55 pm #34449
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, madamsny. I’m glad to read that you’re progressing. With regard to your blood sugar question, you can have a non-starchy vegetable in place of the fruit, and an extra ounce of protein food in place of each 1/2-cup of starchy carb or slice of bread. Additionally, physical activity can be particularly helpful in managing blood sugar, and steaming any deep green leafy and cruciferous vegetables in general (and avoiding soy) may help with thyroid hormone balance.

madamsnyMemberWhen the menu calls for 1/2 tsp almond, what is that? Almond What?
March 7, 2016 at 6:16 pm #34452
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, madamsny. That’s actually 1/2 “ounce” of almonds, which refers to the actual nuts. A half an ounce is about 2 tablespoons.

RozmarieMemberI just joined yesterday and still getting to know a bit about it. I have lost 35 lbs a few times in the past and sure would like this to be the last time. Unfortunately I have about 50 lbs to lose. I’ll still be away from home for another month or so, but I wanted to try to start now. It’s kind of hard not being home. We go out to dinner quite often which makes it harder for me. I like a glass of wine and don’t know if that’s okay or not. I want to be successful. ?

madamsnyMemberI find that, because I am diabetic, I can’t eat a lot of the fruit..ie. plums, oranges, apples, grapes…that the menu calls for because of the high sugar content. I found that by switching to berries..ie. strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries, I’m able to get the fruit in and cut my sugar way back.
I also noticed several people asking how to cut things down to single portion sizes. I bought a Vacuum FoodSaver…anywhere from $60-600 on line, make the whole receipe, and make single portions up for the freezer with the foodsaver bags.March 12, 2016 at 12:50 am #34534
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, madamsny. GREAT ideas!! Thanks 🙂
