Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Vickylana. The lists of foods in your menu are intentionally generic to give you the freedom to use them as you wish. In the example you posted, you can put the tuna directly on the Ryvita, or mix it with a free additive like horseradish to make a spread for the crackers.

ChellepikeMemberHi just joined – can you tell me if its ok to drink diet sodas ( I have 2 cans of Diet Pepsi a day)
March 27, 2016 at 9:07 pm #34724
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Chellepike, and welcome. We actually don’t favor diet sodas because artificial sweeteners can work against your efforts here. However, quitting cold turkey isn’t necessarily the answer either. I would suggest considering cutting back gradually to 1 can a day, then maybe not every day OR perhaps make your own – mix plain carbonated soda water with cola flavoring (extracts are available in bake shops or online) and a good natural sweetener like Stevia (e.g. Truvia) or monk fruit.

jackieeMemberHi, Sharon, apenso and all, I wiggle back out the woodwork, to try yet again to get my eating plan back to total healthy eating. I don’t eat proceed food at all and we’ve even started with chickens and pigeons on the land so our poutry is organic too. I’m still struggling with bloating though and recently have been kkeping a food diary. With an under active thyroid and IBS, could you give me a wee reminder what begs, fruit I could avoid to lessen bloating, I can handle some gas but when it some days I’m not sure if it just veg or a combination of dairy that makes life, uncomfortable. Any tip would be greatful. Well best get on and learn or the new stuff this site. Still love everything I read. PS hope your and family ate all well apensa and Sharon, take care xxx

apensaMemberJACKIE!!!!! So good to see you here again. Missed you and some of the other “old” regulars. I have the same lament. I too seem to get nowhere when it comes to this darn spare tire I carry around my waist. True I am not exercising to the point where I am sweating out my mother’s milk, but I am anything but sedentary, eat sensibly…maybe celebrate when there is a special day (I even cut out the daily Martinis), eat SWG if I have bread, a salad for lunch and a light evening meal, don’t snack, no diet sodas, etc etc. I’m 5′ 7″, 74 years old and weigh 150 to 155lbs. …..anyway, I hear you. Having said that, I hope all is well with the family.

MJKhealthyhabitsMemberI have just started this program about a week ago. I have already enjoyed some recipes from the e-cookbook. I especially like the accountability I have with myself regarding the portions and frequency of my meals. It is nice to be connected to others that have some issues and/or questions regarding food and proper nutrition.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Jackiee. It is good to “read” from you again. Sorry that your health is acting up, and would be happy to help.
The vegetables that are most often associated with bloating are broccoli, cabbage, and kale – though steaming them first often helps control that. Among fruits, apples, pears, peaches, and prunes can also contribute. Legumes (e.g., beans) are a major problem for many people, though soaking and sprouting them can help. You may also wish to be tested for lactose and/or other food intolerances (FODMAP, gluten).March 28, 2016 at 7:13 am #34741
jackieeMemberThanks Sharon and Apenso, i appreciate the welcome back. Sharon could you let me know if checking for food tolerance can be done on my own with a little adoce from you or better with my Dr. I ask because visiting a Dr here is never less than a 2 he waiting time and can be up to 4 hours, so prefer to try all other options first. It’s good to always see your teplys to questions and it is good always seeing your supporting comments (you do make me laugh) on here too Apensa although I’m a bit concerned you can here me away over in America, as I didn’t realise my wind/gas was that loud 😉 . how’s the knees? I ask as a friend here suffered a lot and was recommended to cut out coffee, and it did made such a difference for her.
MJK, good to see your enjoying recipes, if you have time can you share which are easy to do and taste good. Thanks again everyone xxx buona pasquetta xxxMarch 28, 2016 at 4:25 pm #34748
apensaMemberThe knee is doing well with semi annual injections of some sort. Toured Napoli on foot in December. When you are on tour is when the TDC program really gets difficult but I figure by keeping in mind certain principles, it is better than not know ing about them to begin with, so try to balance carbs and proteins at least.
That is what is so great about being a part of this. You come a better educated consumer (eater).

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Jackiee. I can send you a spreadsheet that you can complete to your e-mail address – it lists common foods, and you can assess your preferences and reactions. Send it back to me, and I will review it.

pamelagunnMemberHi I am new here as well. When the menu calls for waffles does it allow for butter or real maple syrup? if not what am i suppose to eat on them?
March 28, 2016 at 8:02 pm #34752
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Pamela Gunn. You can trade your almonds (or other nuts or seeds) for 1.5 tablespoons of maple syrup or jam.

jackieeMemberThanks Sharon, that sounds great, my email address is j.cowie@yahoo.co.uk, I have been busy reading all about fodmaps the last few days, which has been intersecting while also ringing a few bells.
Glad your knees under control Apensa. It must have been fun getting round Napoli on foot, heard its gorgeous but not been there yet (fingers crossed that changes) . it true the information on here has been life changing and priceless. the lifetime membership is a blessing too on the purse strings so refreshing having a site that doesn’t encourage spending more. Just wish it could tell me off when I resorted back to old habits!!
