crystalsalmiMemberHello, I’m Crissy and I just signed up for this program. I need to lose well over 200 lbs. My first goal is to lose fifty lbs and go from there. I have struggled with obesity all my life and am so done with diets. I am looking for a life style change and losing the weight safely and slowly in a sane manner. I know that it won’t be easy, but I am optimistic and motivated to make this program work for me.

Traciab710MemberMy name is Traci. I am 50 years old, a diabetic and had a 95% blockage in August and had a stent put in. I have another blockage that is 50% and they didn’t stent. I need to lose at least 100 lbs and it feels hopeless. I have been contemplating surgery and recently have been researching a gastric balloon. I found this sight today and after reading I thought if I can make this work, it would be a much better option. Would love to hear some success stories and some encouragement. At the moment I am a little overwhelmed. Trying to figure out the next step. And trying to find the strength to make this happen.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Christy and Traci, and welcome! We’re happy to help in whatever way we can. Just take it slow, ease into things, and don’t worry about being “perfect.” Small changes can add up before you know it 🙂

OrneryoutfitMemberHi Everyone, I have been in this program a short time. Just a couple of days. I’m easing into the menu. Need to shop. I had salmon with couscous and bok choy stir fried in olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper. I’m proud of eating better.

Sorlr493MemberHELP! Today is my 1st day. I don’t see how it is possible to prepare and eat this much food. I love the idea of eating healthier, but I have a lap band and never eat this much or this often. I just finished lunch and feel horrible and stuffed. Is it necessary to eat all that is on the menu?

nickyk1970ParticipantHi I’m a newbie.Just joined today.Anyone know if the smoothie drinks can be taken free or do u have to add them into ur plan.Dont eat huge portions and just wondering how I am going to fit them into my day.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Nicky, and welcome! Smoothies aren’t generally “free,” but how they fit into the plan depends on their ingredients and respective quantities. Most that are made from several food groups can take the place of a snack, and others that are largely fruits or vegetables can take the place of those respective food courses.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Sorlr493, and welcome. The intention is for you to eat all the food on the menu, but if it’s too much, don’t fight it – it’s good that you’re in tune with your satiety cues. Just make sure that you get in at least 5 total fruit/vegetable and 3 calcium-rich food/beverage servings each day.
In terms of preparation, note that you can use the personal version of the Menu Planner application to select the foods that work for you, instead of getting stuck with more complicated fare.April 6, 2016 at 12:44 am #34879
gingerwareMemberI am new and have a question but didn’t know which group or place to go to ask it.
I signed up on 4-3-16 and went through the steps to choose food favorites and then created a menu for the week. I also understand how to click on a food and see what it can be exchanged for. My question is in some menus the amount of food (esp in some of the snacks) seems like a LOT to eat at one time. Are you supposed to eat everything the created menu shows or can you just eat some of it. For instance on my menu for lunch tomorrow it shows: 3 1/2 oz chicken, white meat; 3/4 c green peas; 1 Tblsp Honey Mustard Dressing; 1/3 cup brown rice; and 2 servings of Vegetables your choice. Is it okay to just eat the chicken and a salad (the exchange for the 2 vegetables) or I am supposed to have it all?
Just wondering

gingerwareMemberAnd the snack for tomorrow morning is 1 egg, regular; 1 oz cream cheese; 1/2 muffin, English, 100%whole grain; and 1 medium orange…wow that sounds like a meal rather than a snack. 🙂

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Gingerware. The intention is for you to eat everything on the menu, but if you can’t, then don’t fight it. Focus on the protein and produce, then the rest – just try not to eat too little!
