MemberFelicia from Canada. Suffer from endometriosis. I need to lose about 50 pounds. I joined a gym this week and hired a trainer to help keep me disciplined and show me what to do. The diet portion of my goal seems hard because I’m such a picky eater. A lot of the foods in the menu planner are expensive also. I will have to apply these foods slowly. It’s all very over whelming. Guess I will have to start slow.

MemberOk. So, today I am going to do something I haven’t done much of in a very long time. I’m going to go for a ride. ON MY BIKE… Some really great news. I woke up this morning and did not have the need to use my walker. I am also taking an escort to make sure I am safe. I also noticed that for the past two days, I have had no need to use my pain meds. WOW!!! Something wonderful is happening and I love it. Have a great day every on. Especially to all my gals from Texas. Yehaw….. Lets go riding cowboy. I’ll let everyone know how it goes. Over and Out

MemberGood morning from sunny Florida. I just joined yesterday and I’ve been busy getting to know all about TrimDown! Not sure if there is a place for a profile and a picture?
I am 73, female, outlived 2 husbands and met husband #3 on Match.com in 1998. He sleeps with one eye open! We are both from New England, and lived/traveled full time in an RV when we retired. Settled here in Florida in 2007 with our furkid Yorkie, Higgins. We have 4 kids between us, 11 grands, and 2 greatgrands. Don is retired Army and I have led a fabulous life with several wonderful careers from diamonds and yachts to hand knit design for a major yarn company, to working for the State of Vermont and doing a daily radio show, plus lots more. I have been very, very blessed!
I was thin all my life until about age 55. I am an alcoholic, now sober for 24 years, and a 3 pack a day smoker, smoke free for 22 years. Sin paid! When I gave up those two nasty habits, Ben & Jerry and Sara Lee became my roommates!
I’ve been on every diet there is. And lost. And gained. And lost…..I’m sure you understand.
I’ve had a heart attack and suffer from CHF. Also have osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, no knees left after a top weight of 268. I use a cane, walker, and mobility scooter. Managed to lose down to 228 and maintain that for several years. Until the belly pain started. Complained to my doctor for 2 years. Changed doctor and was immediately diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Went VERY strictly gluten-free immediately, but the pain kept getting worse and worse. In May 2011, my son, who is an RN, told me to get up to Maine where he had made an appointment with a GI doctor for me. Within 5 days I had surgery to remove half my colon and a HUGE malignant tumor. Spent 25 days in the hospital, then started on chemo, which was killing me faster than the cancer. OMG I’m going on here….. Anyway, I’m back home in Florida with a wonderful oncologist and on reduced dosages of chemo. Doing well. EXCEPT…..
Food is indeed comforting. And when you have metastatic advanced cancer, you discover that there is a lot of food on your bucket list you want to try! And then, do you know that they start off my chemo treatments with a nice big bag of STEROIDS???!!!! Initially I was overjoyed that the one thing I like about my diagnosis was that I was going to get thin. WRONG! I have GAINED 50 lbs in 1 year!!!!
SO, here I am. Anxious to get back on the healthy eating track and hopefully to lose those 50 I gained. And perhaps to make some nice friends to cheer me on. I have always hated exercise, but I want you all to keep me accountable about doing my seated exercises and bust my considerable chops when I don’t. (This morning I trimmed and watered all my porch plants, which is this morning’s exercise, thank you.)
Thanks for listening and hugs to all of you on this adventure in good health!

I realize finding Bread made with SWG is a task in it’s self. My husband and I started making our own bread. In you opinion do you think this is a healthier choice? We’re using my Kitchen Aide so it ‘s all from scratch.

MemberHello and welcome to Mary Ellen and Ke053605 as well as all how have joined the Trim Down Club. Hey Dawn, I think that making your own bread is a great idea because you will know exactly what is in it. Just be sure to us the SWG flour. There are plenty of recipes online. When I use to bake my own bread, I would make them into rolls as well and place them in the freezer because I would make Plenty to last me for a good while.

MemberI did my bike ride today. I was shooting for a full 30 minutes but only could do 25. Started to get a head ache but did much better than I thought I would.

Membernot me annaleeramos, won’t catch me making my own bread but when I move I will ask the trendy little bakers in town to make it for me! If I give them all the info they might be happy to add a new line not just for me but for other customers as well?

MemberI’m new. I’ve just been on the diet for 3 days. I’m not sure if this is how one becomes a memeber or not—I paid for the site. and I’ve been recording what I eat on the he site here. So I’m not sure if one introduces oneself here or the club is supposed to intro someone. Anyway , I’m here –If I’m doing this wrong let me know
Thank you

MemberHi Joyce and welcome 😉
I think this is the way to intro yourself. I just started on the program 4 days ago and read A BUNCH! Then started looking in and replying on some of the threads.
Have fun with the experimenting of new foods and dropping those pounds!
