Hi, TamiJayne, and welcome. Note that you don’t have to struggle to find foods – if you’re using the personal version of the Menu Planner application, you can select the foods that work for you. As for the rest, they are available online if you wish – try Thrive Market (http://thrv.me/TrimDownClubV6).
As for “Fast Food Vegetable Salad,” it just refers to the vegetable-only salad that is available at fast food restaurants (e.g., http://www.bk.com/menu-item/garden-side-salad).

Hi Ossie-Sharon I’m new to this and on my menu for next week I have milk choc flavoured. Can I make my own with Ovaltine(don’t know whether you have that in the states). Am thinking of the sugar content

Hi, Margaret. Of COURSE there is Ovaltine in the US! It’s something of a global legend. It has sugar, but there are worse options. I say go for it.

Hi, Being new tho this, I have a question regarding the vegetable intake. When a menu is compiled it says 2 vegetables of your choice. Now, does this mean 2 types of vegetables from the list across the entire meaning, so I would have 1 cup of tomatoes with unlimited cucumber or does it mean only 2 of limited choices with any of the unlimited choices. This is causing an issues in my household…i say its 2 from the entire list not a mix of a few like my husband says! please help and advise on this issue!!

    Kind Regards

    Sharon

Ossie-Sharon, As you know, I have been with TDC a long time. I’d hate to think of what I would look like if I weren’t. Does there come a time in our lives that regardless of what, how much and when you eat all the “fat buddies” from your past decide to come home and dwell like the proverbial professional student offspring in the basement of our bodies? I’m 74 now; not sedentary and with enough knee, shoulder and back issues that keep me from going to the local “meat market” gym. I do however do some stretching and treadmill work……unfortunately not on a regular basis. I still do my weekly gardening work, venture out on our boat and actively pursue my woodworking hobby. Is it time for me to just forget it? Enjoy my occasional Newcastle and Grey Goose, just admit that I need to go from
34’s to 36’s and get rid of any full length mirrors in the house. I LOOK LIKE…….well, you know. Is belly and waistline fat inevitable? Is Sonobello the only answer?

Hello , I have just recently joined and was just wondering if you could clarify a couple of things.
Is the weight of items before or after cooking , like the pasta and rice?
Also the weight of things is like I cup or 240ml, that is ok for liquid so what is the weight of solids ? It says 2 cups of salad or I cup of veg, not sure on sizes.
    Thank you in advance

Hi I’m a newbie.not sure what things to eat.the receipts not my usual foods.

Hi, Colesha. It’s the second one – 2 vegetables from the “limited” list, and whatever you want from the unlimited (“free”) list.

Hi, Apensa. It’s great to hear from you! I’m glad to read you’re doing your best and enjoying life. I wouldn’t say that belly fat is inevitable with aging, but dealing with it does take effort (http://www.boredpanda.com/oldest-female-bodybuilder-grandma-80-year-old-ernestine-shepherd/) – it also has a lot to do with genes. However, I wouldn’t forget about it – as a wise man just wrote, “I’d hate to think of what I would look like if I weren’t.” 😉 In other words, giving it the proverbial college try might not make you a fashion model, but it may give you 20-40 more years in your garden.

Hi, Starr, and welcome! Starches and vegetables are after cooking, and protein foods are before.

Yes, 240 ml is OK for liquids and similar solids (such as applesauce and cottage cheese). Weights vary for fruits and vegetables, and some items – like flour, grated cheese, and nuts weigh half (i.e., 240 ml = 120 g), and airy foods like salad even less, so it’s easier to go with the volume measurement.

Hi, Hubby. Can you describe what you normally eat?

Ok so Whole wheat bread is bad and to be avoided, surprise, then after that comes the next by now even more surprising revelation, 100% whole wheat bread is great!
    It doesn’t figure.
Perhaps you can clarify? How are we to know the difference. In uk I would assume whole wheat bread is 100%

    #36047

Hi, Milly. If it isn’t “100%,” there’s a very high chance that refined flours have been added into the mix. Without that number, the best way to be sure is to check the ingredients list.

Just spent some time with google and we are well behind here in the UK. 100% whole grain appears to be for the past and maybe future. Cannot find one source so far. Everything just has some and all sorts of other unwanted ingredients. They do sprouted whole grain rye and wheat at Holland & Barrett so I give that a go
